The European Tour continues this week with the Cazoo Classic at the Heritage Course, London Golf Club, Kent.
The 143 field will be competing around this par 72 parkland course for the €1.25m prize pot with the winner collecting the title and €189,530.
The only previous course winner taking part this week will be Ross Fisher who won the European Open here in 2008 .
The weather is forecast to be warm with sunny intervals throughout
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage starting at 12.30pm GMT on Thursday.
I’ve already posted a detailed preview for the Wyndham Championship on the PGA Tour with an update on yet another profitable weekend for us last week at the WGC FedEx St Jude where my 80/1 selection Sam Burns just only missed out after a play-off but still returned 20/1 place money for the runners up position and 11/4 for the advised Top 20 finish.
The customary matchbet Nap Jordan Speith, to beat Xander Schauffele also landed comfortably at 10/11 so well done to everyone who collected.
So on to this week’s Cazoo Classic selections.
Andy Sullivan
For my first and main selection I’m liking the look of Andy Sullivan 22/1 EW Bet365.
The 35yrs old from Nuneaton is a double winner on the European Tour and currently sits inside the World’s Top 100 in the rankings, currently 92nd.
He won the English Championship last year after winning the Portugal Masters in 2015 and has been so unlucky on numerous occasions with so many runners-up positions.
Sullivan’s form has been not too bad recently, in the last six months or so he was 2nd, yet another runners-up spot at the Golf in Dubai Championship, 10th at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, 6th at the Betfred British Masters, 5th at the BMW International Open, 12th at the Irish open and last but not least, 26th at Royal St George’s at The 149th Open Championship.
I’ve just got a feeling Sullivan will be on the winners podium anytime soon and it could well be this weekend with a victory at the Cazoo Classic.
Vincent Norman
For my next selection I’m going to single out Vincent Norman 25/1 EW Bet365.
The 23yrs old Swede is a new kid on the block but don’t allow that to put you off, it certainly hasn’t in my book.
He was introduced to golf later on than most but has hit the ground running almost immediately since turning Pro. On his professional debut just a matter of weeks ago he finished 5th at the BMW International Open where he shot a hole in one on his way to carding a -13 scorecard, truly amazing from a debutant.
Two weeks earlier, before turning Pro, he was 14th at the Scandinavian Mixed with a -9 scorecard. Last month he kept up this outstanding form with T10th at the Cazoo Open then a week later he was 11th at the ISPS Handa Invitational.
You wouldn’t ever know this kid has just turned Pro mixing it with the best and fairing all to well at almost every event he has entered.
With that kind of form he has immediately flashed up on my radar but I’ve been biding my time and waiting patiently but it’s time to let you all know this kid will be winning his maiden European Title anytime soon at such a young age and I’m not missing out so neither will you.
Callum Hill
For my next pick I’m going to advise Callum Hill 28/1 EW Ladbrokes.
The young 26yrs old Scot from the Kingdom of Fife has been showing signs that he will also be a winner on the European Tour, it’s just a matter of time.
He already has bagged three victories on the Challenge Tour and has come close to that maiden European Tour victory. I actually thought it may have happened last weekend at the Hero Open where he was in contention all the way, sitting top of the leaderboard for the most part but eventually finished in 4th place but that will do his conference the world of good.
If he brings that kind of form here this week to the Cazoo Classic then once again he will be a major contender and could well be on his way to that European crown. This year alone he was 4th at the Saudi International with a few big guns in attendance including eventual winner Dustin Johnson, 8th at the Magical Kenya Open, 3rd at the Kenya Savannah Classic, 8th at the Betfred British Masters and 12th at the Canarty Islands Championship.
I feel all he needs is to win that elusive first European title then many will follow and he certainly has time on his side to be a homegrown superstar in the making just like his best friend, our very own Bob MacIntyre.
Calum Hill v Richard Bland
For my final selection it’s the customary 72 hole matchbet and I’m going to stick our very own Calum Hill again to get the better of Richard Bland.
