Friday at York
2:40 – ONASSIS
ONASSIS (15/2
)was such a star last season. She travelled supremely well at Royal Ascot last month, but didn’t quicken on that ground. She has come on a huge amount for that run and I’m confident she’ll show her true self today. The ground is on the soft side of good, which will suit her. The only negative in my eyes is the course at York being quite sharp, I know she can win over 6-furlongs but I’d prefer it to be a stiffer finish. There is no doubt in my mind that she is the best filly in the race, however.
3:50 – SOLENT GETAWAY
SOLENT GETAWAY (9/2
) was successful over this trip and on this ground on Derby Day at Epsom. He showed a fantastic attitude that day to get up and win and only just got touched off at Chester on his last start. He seems to be a very progressive type and he should enjoy the conditions today for a yard whose horses are running very well.
Saturday at Chester
2:15 – DEVIOUS ANGEL
DEVIOUS ANGEL (S/P
) has been busy as a two-year-old. She finished 2nd in the Lily Agnes here in May and won at Haydock two starts ago. She will certainly know her job and be professional here. We have got the strongest form in the book and I’m looking forward to riding her.
3:25 – OOH DE LALLY
OOH DE LALLY (S/P
) looked Listed Stakes class when toughing it out at Newcastle on his latest start. Unfortunately, we’ve been given the worst possible draw (9 of 9), which is a big negative, but he’s more than deserving of his place in this race. Hopefully we can get a slice of luck.
4:00 – STAR CALIBER
I have been riding STAR CALIBER (S/P
) at Andrew Balding’s yard in Newbury recently. He has been going very nicely and I think he’ll relish this step up in trip and the soft ground they currently have at Chester. The track will also suit him.
4:35 – AWEEDRAM
AWEEDRAM (S/P
) struggled on heavy ground on his latest start having been stepped up in trip. I’ve not ridden him before, but I’ve watched his last races back. The ground tomorrow shouldn’t be as testing, but he needs to start reproducing the form of his three-year-old career to get back to winning ways.
5:10 – FOOLS RUSH IN
FOOLS RUSH IN (S/P
) has been very progressive this season. We’ve got a good draw in two and the yard, as previously mentioned, is in great form. He has finished 3rd at Chester twice and should cope with the drop back to 6-furlongs given the conditions are a bit more testing.
Stay safe,
Hayley!
