Italy and Denmark made their way to the last eight in Saturday but their paths were a bit different to how we imagined.
The Danes overpowered Wales and while they were deserved winners, the 4-0 scoreline flattered them a bit, while Italy who were fancied to steamroller Austria needed extra time to book their quarter-final place. No matter, both sides can now look forward to the next round.
On Sunday we’ll find out who Italy will face as we look forward to arguably the tie of the round when Belgium meet Portugal in Seville for a place in the quarter finals. Ronaldo and his penalties have kept the Portuguese in the hunt for the title they’re defending and in all honesty this game could go either way.
The Portuguese finished third in the Group F, largely thanks to three late goals against a plucky Hungary. Their match against France finished level, which suited both teams so they’ll need to step up a level to get the better of Belgium who have simmered so far rather then reaching boiling point.
The bookies make Belgium 29/20 (bet365) favourites while Portugal are 2/1 shots. Ronaldo and co stifled teams on the way to the European Championships in 2016 and they’ll do well to shut down the attacking prowess of Roberto Martinez’s side on Sunday. The Belgians wer overpriced for wins over Russia and Denmark and look generous again.
SlipsTips has zoned in on the match for his BetBuilder on Sunday so don’t miss that.
Sunday’s other Euro 2020 match should be an interesting watch. Netherlands have looked good at times but questions still remain defensively. Are the Czech’s good enough to eploit their weaknesses? Possibly but 4/6 on the Duth to win inside the 90 minutes seems fair.
Memphis Depay has been the stand out player for the Netherlnds so far and he’s 11/10 to score anytime while three-goal Patrick Shick is the Czech’s most potent threat and he 12/5 to net inside the 90 minutes. Don’t miss KevMac’s big match preview.
