Italy to win to nil
It’s hard to argue that Italy were among the most impressive teams during the group stages, winning all three games without conceding to breeze through Group A. They’re now 30 matches unbeaten and haven’t conceded in over 1,000 minutes of football.
Austria may have won their matches against North Macedonia and Ukraine but they managed just one shot on target against the Netherlands, who themselve have been suspect defensively.
There’s plenty of motivation for The Azzurri to not only win (keeping that amazing streak going) but also to keep Austria out. Fewer nations take as much pride as the Italians in keeping a cleans sheet and at 9/20 to win, backing them to do it to nil has it’s appeal at 5/4.
Belgium to win
It’s almost now or never for Belgium’s golden generation but they’ve a tough route to the final which begins with a last 16 tie against champions Portugal.
Only France can rival the Red Devil’s squad for quality and in Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku they have two of the most in-form players in Europe at the moment. And it’s that quality that could give them the edge over a Portugal side who scraped through Group F.
A late flurry against Hungary, defeat to Germany, a draw with France when it was apparent that a share of the spoils would be enough for both sides and a over-reliance on Ronaldo and his prowess from the penaly spot doesn’t fill you with much confidence that the Portuguese can get the better of the number 1 ranked team in the world.
France to score 2+
The Swiss turned up when they needed in their final match win over Turkey in Group A but they struggled big time against the Italians and it could be the same story when they meet tournament favourites France.
The French have yet to really click at the tournament and there’s always the potential for them to self-destruct but if they can keep it together and build on topping the group of death they should see off Switzerland comfortably in the last 16.
You feel there’s more to come from Didier Deschamp’s side who have an abundance of attacking talent but scored just four times in the group stages. Switzerland could feel the full force the French armoury.
