Wednesdays Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on two of the tournaments favourites as both look to seal their places in the last 16.
Bodø/Glimt vs Molde
🇳🇴 Eliteserien
⏰ Thursday 24th June, 17:00
The top 2 meet each other at the Aspmyra Stadion as Bodø host Molde in a crucial match. Both sides have identical records as they both sit on 20 points after 9 matches winning 6, drawing 2 and losing once.
Bodø come into this after drawing away to 5th placed Vålerenga on Sunday evening. That’s two away games on the bounce for Bodø they are winless in but thankfully for them they’re back on home turf. Bodø have scored in all 5 home games scoring 16 goals which makes them the leagues top scorers at home. They have however conceded in 5 of their 9 games this season including 2 in their last home game against Strømsgodset and 2 at home to Rosenborg.
Molde come into this with a bit of momentum winning 3 games on the bounce and scoring 9 goals. No side has scored more than Molde’s 23 strikes this season, not even their opponents (21) and are the leagues top away scorers with 9 in 4 games. Molde have scored in 8 of their 9 games this season including in all 4 against top half sides. However, they are vulnerable defensively as they’ve kept only 3 clean sheets this season and have conceded 6 goals in their 4 away games.
Strømsgodset vs Sandefjord
🇳🇴 Eliteserien
⏰ Thursday 24th June, 20:00
Strømsgodset host Sandefjord at the Marienlyst Stadion at Friday teatime. Both sides sit in the lower half of the table as Strømsgodset currently sit in 12th whereas Sandefjord currently occupy the relegation play off spot in 14th.
Strømsgodset would be somewhat relieved to earn a point last time out away to Mjøndalen after suffering a 7-2 defeat to champions Bodø/Glimt the game before. Strømsgodset have performed better at home recording 7 points out of a possible 9 scoring 6 goals. Defensively though they have struggled as they’re yet to keep a clean sheet in all 7 of their games this season conceding 15 (7 of those were away to Bodø as previously mentioned).
Sandefjord come come into this after recording an impressive 3-0 victory over Viking. Sandefjord have scored in their last 5 games scoring 9 goals including 4 in their 2 away games. Prior to that 3-0 victory last time out, Sandefjord had conceded in their previous 5 games conceding 12 times.
Bet of the Day
Norway’s game of the day sees the top 2 sides meet. Both sides score plenty of goals but aren’t exactly watertight at the back. Usually when these sides meet they are goals with both games finishing 3-1 & 4-2 last season. Then it’s two sides near the bottom of the table and are pretty decent going forward but are certainly vulnerable defensively. The corresponding fixture last season between the two finished 3-4, here’s hoping for a similar score line.
