Wednesdays Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on two of the tournaments favourites as both look to seal their places in the last 16.
Slovakia vs Spain
🇪🇺 Euro 2020
⏰ Wednesday 23rd June, 17:00
Slovakia travel to Seville to take on Spain in a pivotal game for both sides. Surprisingly Slovakia come into the final matchday in 2nd, a point above Spain and know a draw will be enough for them to qualify. Spain however need a win to guarantee qualification to the last 16.
After an opening day victory Poland, Slovakia lost 1-0 last time out through an Emil Forsberg penalty. It was a game where Slovakia sat back and tried to come away with a point and I can see them deploying the same tactics here. Slovakia struggle to keep clean and have conceded in both of their group E games and I see them conceding once more. A big problem for Slovakia is their lack of creativity and I don’t seem them creating enough clear chances to breach the Spanish defence.
Spain come into this after drawing both of their opening games. Whilst they may come into this in 3rd spot, Spain will be fully aware that their destiny is still in their own hands and a win will be enough for a spot in the last 16. Spain have been wasteful with their chances so far this tournament but may only require one goal to secure victory. With Spain once more being at home in the Andalusian heat in a must win game, I see the Spanish doing just enough for all 3 points.
Germany vs Hungary
🇪🇺 Euro 2020
⏰ Wednesday 23rd June, 20:00
Hungary travel to Munich to take on Germany on Wednesday evening. Group F is wide open with all 4 sides still capable of qualifying. Hungary need a victory while Germany only need a point however need a win to guarantee a top 2 spot.
After an opening day defeat to favourites France, Germany answered their critics with a very impressive 4-2 win over holders Portugal. Germany should gain great confidence from that win against Portugal and I see them putting in a similar performance. With home advantage once more, Germany should have the attacking quality to defeat Hungary.
Hungary come into this with a shock 1-1 draw against world champions France. It was a bit of smash and grab as France spurned numerous opportunities in a match they should’ve won. Nevertheless, that draw has kept Hungary in with a chance of progressing and know a win will take them through. Crucially though, unlike their other 2 games Hungary won’t home advantage and 60,000+ fans roaring them on which I feel will have a big negative impact on them and they should be outclassed by the Germans in Germany’s own backyard.
Bet of the Day
Two of the tournament favourites should grab all 3 points and seal their places in the last 16. Both sides not only have motivation but also home advantage and their extra quality should shine through.
- Spain to win & under 4.5 goals
- Germany to win & over 1.5 goals
- Double Pays 39/40 (BetVictor)
