SlipsTips shares his favourite fancy ahead of Scotland’s do-or-die Group D clash with Croatia on Tuesday night.
Croatia vs Scotland (Tuesday, 20:00)
Croatia and Scotland collide in a winner-takes-all showdown for a place in the last-16 of Euro 2020 at Hampden on Tuesday night.
These two nations are locked on one point apiece in this pool but three points are now a must for both teams as Group D reaches its dramatic conclusion.
Croatia come into this clash on the back of a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Czech Republic, a result that keeps Zlatko Dalic’s side in with a shout of qualifying for the knockout stages.
Scotland, on the other hand, boosted their chances of securing a last-16 berth when battling to a well-deserved 0-0 draw against arch-rivals England on Friday, on a night where my team corner tip landed.
However, both teams have scored just one goal between them thus far so it’s difficult to have much faith in either team here and I’m therefore going to steer clear of the outright betting and instead head to the card market.
The money has come for this bet but over 3.5 match cards is still available at 5/6 with PaddyPower and that makes plenty of appeal.
The stakes couldn’t be higher ahead of this do-or-die dust-up and given the immense pressure that will be on both sides on Tuesday night I suspect that sparks could fly in Glasgow.
What’s more, both sides were averaging over two bookings per game en-route to this summer’s showpiece and I fancy that trend to continue as both sides desperately seek to keep their Euro 2020 hopes alive.
It’s also worth noting that Argentinian referee Fernando Rapallini has been selected to take charge of this huge Hampden showdown.
The South American whistler has a reputation for being card-happy – Rapallini was averaging north of 60 booking points per game during the most recent domestic season – and with a nervy clash excepted here, I’m more than happy to back over 3.5 match cards at 5/6 with PaddyPower.
Recommended Bet
- Over 3.5 Cards – 5/6 (PaddyPower)
