With Windsor’s regular Monday evening fixture forced to abandon on rain-sodden ground this week, Wolverhampton’s all-weather card will instead be the centre of attention.
The Dunstall Park meeting is underway at 5.50pm and runs through until 8.50pm, with seven races to entertain racing fans. You can watch it all via live streaming when logged into MansionBet, alongside every race from the UK and Ireland.
Our tipster takes a look through tonight’s Wolverhampton card in the pursuit of winners.
5.50 – EBC Group Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap (1m6f)
YAGOOD is the form horse and can go in again with Simon Walker on board in this amateur riders’ contest. The Teofilo gelding was a winner over 1m4f here in April and looked a shade unlucky next time at Kempton. He has since showcased his staying power with a 2m turf success at Wetherby this month and looks up to the challenge of making it 3-5 for his current trainer.
Selection: Yagood @ 6/4
6.20 – Stay At The Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Handicap (6f)
Fircombe Hall won nicely at Carlisle last week, seemingly still on the upgrade for the application of headgear, and he’s got to hold strong claims despite a 6lb penalty. With another recent winner, Morty, now ruled out, the value could be in siding with NACHO for Donald and Ella McCain. They’ve finished second in both recent starts here over 5f and the way they finished off after a slow beginning last time was a sure hint that this step up in trip can be taken as a positive.
Selection: Nacho @ 13/2
6.50 – British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes (5f)
Tom Dascombe’s Mercurial has the strongest form claims here. The Prince Of Lir colt won a Chester maiden last month and has since run well in third behind the promising Tipperary Sunset at Beverley. If he copes with this surface, he’s got strong claims. Beauzon is the only other winner in the field but SIDCOT SWALLET was second over this C&D on debut last month, showing a fine attitude, and is drawn to attack from the outset. He looks sure to make progress.
Selection: Sidcot Swallet @ 9/2
7.20 – EBC Group Handicap (5f)
There are lots of leading chances for Tom Dascombe and Richard Kingscote on this card and CUBAN BREEZE can prove a winning one. She’s had four turf runs so far this season and has repeatedly shaped nicely in better races than this one without winning. She is though already a C&D winner from this mark and with her stable in fine fettle, it’s not hard to see her going very close back here.
Selection: Cuban Breeze @ 3/1
7.50 – EBC Group Novice Stakes (7f)
Newcomer Waleyfa needs monitoring for Owen Burrows as she has potential on paper but CASH MACHINE could be hard to topple in spite of conceding a penalty for April’s success at Chelmsford. That was a second start for the Twilight Son colt, his first since November, and he came home with a strong winning run from a rival that has won 2-3 starts on the turf since. Cash Machine is up in trip tonight and can prove good enough for this field.
Selection: Cash Machine @ 6/5
8.20 – Book Tickets Online At wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Handicap (7f)
The hat-trick seeking Vitesse Du Son needs a career-best to supplement two recent Lingfield wins, but is already a C&D scorer and shouldn’t be overlooked in current mood. Hachert won well over track and trip a fortnight ago and is in with a chance from this 3lb higher mark but French import OKAIDI debuts for Tony Carroll in modest company and might be worth a chance at a price. He’s been off a year since leaving Freddie Head but this handicap bow comes at a low level and he could have something to offer.
Selection: Okaidi @ 22/1
8.50 – EBC Group Your Workplace Technology Partner Handicap (1m½f)
Pope Gregory won a couple of races over C&D in the spring and could be a player if rebounding from two lesser efforts since but last-time-out track and trip winner CASTLE QUARTER is preferred. He’s rated 4lb higher for this but connections have called on Frederick Larson with his 7lb claim to offset that and it’s plausible his tally for this trainer can be doubled quickly.
Selection: Castle Quarter @ 4/1
