No luck yesterday, frustratingly, but we go again today! I’ll be on ITV Racing today with Ed, Francesca and the rest of the team which should be great – hopefully the rain stops!
It’s the Gold Cup today and Stradivarius (11/10
) is trying to win it for an incredible fourth time. He has been the most amazing little horse who has a huge heart and will to win. I think he should be able to beat this field considering they haven’t had as much rain as was forecast.
Elsewhere, I think that the William Haggas-trained Mohaafeth (13/8
) will gain compensation for not running in the Derby. He looked a very good horse earlier this season and he arrives here fresh.
5:00 Britannia Handicap – Big Narstie
The well-named Big Narstie (33/1
) arrives at Royal Ascot off the back of an excellent 2nd over 7-furlongs here at Ascot last month. He bumped into a very smart horse called Aldaary who is now rated 105 and runs (and is favourite) in the last race today. He did well considering it was only his fourth career start. I won on him last season and he is a nice horse. We are drawn on the stands’ side rail which looks to be where you want to be. Richard Spencer’s horses are running well and I hope he can run a massive race. I’m sure Big Narstie himself will be watching on as he’s been to visit the horse before. It would make a brilliant story if he were to win today.
Good luck to everyone this week and I’ll be back tomorrow!
Stay safe,
Hayley!
