What a result for Wales in Azerbaijan! Gareth Bale might have missed a penalty but he was intrumental in assisting the two goals that settled the match in Wales’ favour and almost certainly takes them in to the knock-out stages of the tournament. Magnificent!
Also in Group A, Italy looked every bit as good against Switzerland as they did in their opener against Turkey, cruising into the last 16 with a 3-0 win. Exciting going forward and solid at the back, the Azzuri look serious contenders to lift the trophy on July 11th and are now joint 3rd favourites at 6/1.
Denmark need to pick themselves up following their emotionally draining opener against Finland. Fortunately Christian Eriksen appears to be on the road to recovery but it’ll be tough for the squad to return to Parken Stadium with memories of their teammate’s collapse still raw.
But the Danes are made of strong stuff and will be doing their utmost to put in a performance for their pal who’ll be watching from hospital room a few miles away bedecked in his Denmark shirt.
They could hardly have picked a tougher match however, with Belgium the visitors in Wednesday’s early evening kick-off.
The Belgians blew away Russia in St Petersburg in their opener and look a good bet again at 21/20 (William Hill) despite having to play opposition on their own territory once more.
Netherlands looked a bit ropey in their 3-2 win over Ukraine and could be the most enteratining team to watch at the Euros. Of the ‘big’ nations who are favourites to win their group the Dutch have looked the most vulnerable so far. Opponents Austria’s (6/1) tails will be up after a 3-1 over North Macedonia and could give Frank De Boer’s side a fright.
Wednesday’s other match sees Ukraine up against North Macedonia in Bucharest. Andriy Shevchenko will have earmarked this match as the one to win to give them the best chance to qualify but the Macedonians were no push-overs for Austria.
There could be goals in this one. Both sides found the net in their first match but also conceded three. Over 2.5 Goals pays a healthy 11/10 (Bet365). Don’t miss SlipsTips’ thoughts on the match which features his best bet for Wednesday.
