We backed Infinity Esports to beat DetonatioN FocusMe on the first day of the tournament, and it proved to be the right choice. It was a very close match that ended in Infinity’s favour largely because they had better scaling champions in Sylas and Xayah.
The question is whether Infinity can repeat that feat on Tuesday. While there is definitely a world where they come away with the spoils, their last win was somewhat unconvincing, so it wouldn’t be fair to say they are definitely the stronger team.
The last match seemed much closer than it should have been largely because DFM gave up a few early kills. They have since looked much better and as long as they can avoid making the same mistakes here, the Japanese outfit should win with relative ease.

DetonatioN FocusMe entered the 2021 MSI as one of the weakest teams in the field, but they didn’t need long to prove they’re not to be underestimated. On Saturday, they came extremely close to beating the reigning LoL world champions, DWG KIA, in what was one of the best performances from a team in a wildcard region in a very long time.
Cloud9 have yet to prove they are any different to the other teams the LoL Championship Series (LCS) has sent to an international tournament. They’re a strong team on paper, but their performances are not that good.
We are quite surprised to see such a good price on DFM, which seems to be based more off regional bias rather than the team’s performances. We don’t want to overreact to one good showing from the Japanese side, but the underdog odds are too good to pass up.

Last time out, Cloud9 beat Infinity Esports, but it wasn’t a complete stomp. Infinity had their chances to win, but they made a few too many mistakes which Cloud9 were able to take advantage of.
After watching how that game unfolded, it would be fair to assume Cloud9 will from now on use a more passive playstyle – waiting for their opponents to make mistakes and work to build advantages around that. That should work wonders against a team like Infinity who like to introduce some chaos in their games.
If Cloud9 lose to DetonatioN FocusMe, they will need to win this match or start packing their bags. This could see C9 players crumble under pressure, but you can’t really bet against a team with Luka “Perkz” Perković, who is at his best in high-pressure situations.
