With the chance to reach their first European final in 51 years Man City face the biggest match in their modern history tonight against PSG.
A 2-1 first leg win in Paris has put them in pole position as the two clubs aim to break into the exclusive club of teams to be crowned Champions of Europe, something that, for all their riches, has eluded them both.
PSG were famously on the wrong end of one of the Champions League’s most incredible comebacks when Barcelona overturned a 4-1 deficit to knock them out in 5-6 on aggregate and the French champions are 5/1 (Bet365) to turn this one around. Their first half display last week would suggest there could still be life left in this tie but Mauricio Pochettino’s will need to be at their very best for the full 90 minutes – possibly more – and few teams manage that against Guradiola’s men.
Despite everything that’s at stake Mark Walker reckons there’ll be goals at the Etihad and has been bold enough to predict a first half strike for each side in his match preview.
SlipsTips also recons there’ll be some cheer for PSG and is backing them to net in his 4/5 BetBuilder.
Elsewhere in England there’s a smattering of lower league matches, some which have been covered by Tolu and you can see his match previews below.
Scottish Lower Leagues
In Scotland, League One and League Two reach their climax. All the major issues have already been resolved with Glasgwegian pair Partick Thistle and Queen’s Park tying up their respective league titles, and Forfar and Brechin propping up either table.
But there’s plenty of jostling still to be done for play-off positions on the final matchday. Unlike in England, Fourth place plays third place, the winner of which plays second place. The winner of that then plays second bottom from the division above so there’s real value in finishing as high as you can.
In League One, Falkirk are in perilous danger of missing out on the play-offs altogether. A tricky away trip to Airdrieonians, who themselves can finish 2nd with a win, awaits, but potentially more crucial to their chances will be Montrose’s home match with newly crowned Champions Partick Thistle.
The Jags have finished the season in phenomenal form and would be forgiven for having a night off in a match that’s meaningless for them, but could potentially see rivals Falkirk consigned to another season in League One. That’s not to say they’ll lie down – oh no! – but you have to wonder what’s in it or them, except professional pride, to beat Montrose.
Montrose will be boosted by a 2-1 win over Falkirk at the weekend that kept their promotion dream alive and can’t be ignored at 2/1 (BetVictor) to win.
