SlipsTips takes a look at the Bet Builder market ahead of West Ham’s Premier League showdown with Chelsea at the London Stadium on Saturday.
West Ham vs Chelsea (Saturday, 17:30)
West Ham play host to London rivals Chelsea on Saturday evening in a match which could be crucial in the fight for a Premier League top-four finish.
The race for Champions League qualification could hardly be tighter, with both of these respective capital clubs fiercely competing for a ticket at Europe’s top table next term.
The Hammers are having a season to remember but their charge towards Champions League qualification was stopped in its tracks in a 3-2 defeat at Newcastle last weekend.
That setback coupled with Chelsea’s goalless draw with Brighton snuck Thomas Tuchel’s team into the top-four but the Blues results in the Premier League have been a bit patchy of late.
As such, I’m going to steer clear of the outright betting at the London Stadium on Saturday and instead head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder.
If we combine over zero Chelsea goals and each team to see at least one card we will be presented with a nice looking 20/21 shot.
Chelsea have made an encouraging start to life under Thomas Tuchel, with the west Londoners undefeated in 12 of their last 13 Premier League matches, not to mention the new Chelsea chief has also galvanised his sides’ assault on both the Champions League and the FA Cup respectively.
West Ham on the other hand, had a wobble last week and it’s also worth noting that David Moyes’ men have conceded at least two goals in each of their last four Premier League matches.
In fact, the Hammers have failed to shutout their opponents in seven of their last top-flight tussles and with that in mind, coupled with Moyes’ mounting injury list, I’ll happily back Chelsea to get on the scoresheet on Saturday.
In order to boost up the price, I’ll also back each team to see at least one card – West Ham are averaging 1.38 cards per game this season, while Chelsea are averaging 1.25 bookings per 90 minutes.
Referee Chris Kavanagh is the man in the middle for this all-London affair, with the Manchester-born whistler showing each team a card in six of the last seven matches that he has officiated.
It’s also worth noting that the above-mentioned combination has clicked in seven of West Ham’s last eight league games and that adds to the appeal of supporting the same formula in what should be a closely-fought and competitive London derby.
