Despite the lack of fans Tuesday’s Champions League matches didn’t disappoint.
A 90th minute goal by Phil Phoden ensured Manchester City would take a lead to Germany for the return leg next week. Their 2-1 win leaves the tie firmly in the balance and it should be a cracker at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday.
Liverpool could do with a packed Anfield for their second leg with Real Madrid. The Reds trail 3-1 following Tuesday’s defeat at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. Jurgen Klopp’s men aren’t out of it but you’d fancy their chances a bit more if the Kop was in full voice.
Bayern Munich v PSG
Wednesday’s blockbuster is in Munich where holders Bayern will be without talismanic Robert Lewandowski and possibly Serge Gnabry for the visit of PSG in a re-run of last season’s final.
The Parisiens dismantled Barca in the previous round and if at their best could be a match for a Lewi-less Bayern. They’re 13/5 (Bet365) shots to pull off the win in Munich and 11/10 to qualify. Over 2.5 Goals landed in both of Tuesday’s matches and it could pay here again but it’s priced at just 4/7. But if you pair it with BTTS you can get 4/5.
SlipsTips reckons the Germans are still worth backing in his match preview and they’ve drifted a little to even money at Tonybet since he posted his write-up.
FC Porto v Chelsea
The night’s other tie see Chelsea in Portugal to take on FC Porto. Thomas Tuchel tasted defeat for the first time as Blues boss in spectacular fashion at the weekend when they lost 5-2 at home to West Brom so he’ll be looking for a reaction from his side.
Chelsea only need to look to the last round to see how dangerous the Portuguese can be after they knocked out Juventus over the two legs. With that in mind the 4/1 on a home win loks massive and even money on Porto in the Double Chance market also has it’s appeal.
Mark Walker is firm in his belief that Chelsea will will secure a first leg win however and is backing them in his preview.
