With no Premiership games this weekend, Scottish Football expert Mark Walker dips in to the lower leagues for his bets on Saturday.
Inverness v Arbroath
CALEY THISTLE have turned the corner recently under Neil McCann and can chalk up another important three points with a win against Arbroath.
Inverness had been on a dreadful run and were in grave danger of being sucked into the relegation zone after a torrid set of results.
But excellent away wins at Raith Rovers and Dunfermline have pushed them back to challenging for a play-off spot in the Championship.
They had an uncomfortable evening in the Scottish Cup in midweek, when they edged through against Buckie Thistle, but it could have been far worse as Hearts will tell you.
They face an Arbroath side at home who exited the competition against League One Falkirk who have only played one match recently.
Arbroath have also not won in their last four games and are going to be without experienced striker Bobby Linn for a period of time too after an injury.
ICT beat the Gayfield side 3-1 at home earlier in the season and are solid at 11/10 to win again.
Alloa v Ayr United
AYR UNITED have won their last five games against Alloa and they can make it six in a row which would all but seal the Wasps’ fate.
Alloa are five points adrift at the bottom of the Championship and have won only once at their Indodrill Stadium since the middle of December.
They’ve lost 2-0 and 4-1 to Ayr already this term and David Hopkin’s new charges and also on a fine run of form themselves, having lost just once in their last six games and that was at Tynecastle against Hearts.
They had a nice comfortable 4-0 stroll at a potentially-tricky Scottish Cup tie at Elgin City in midweek and won at Dundee in their last away game in the league. They should have too much for Alloa.
Montrose v Clyde
MONTROSE and Clyde both eased to comfortable Scottish Cup wins in midweek at Highland League opposition, but the Gable Endies can defeat the Bully Wee in League One this weekend.
A 7-1 romp at Nairn County was ignored mostly, but it was the perfect pick-me-up after their defeat at Falkirk last week with Craig Johnston scoring a hat-trick.
Danny Lennon’s Clyde also won at Keith, but alarm bells should be ringing after a horrific display at home to East Fife last week in the lower leagues’ return.
Clyde are stretched for numbers and third placed Montrose will want to keep on the coattails of Cove Rangers above them.
