The countdown to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar begins tonight with the beginning of European qualifiation. KevMac cast his eye over tonight’s best bets.
Serbia v Ireland
SERBIA will be out to banish their Euro 2020 demons when Ireland come calling in the World Cup qualifiers tonight.
The painful play-off final loss to Scotland signalled the end of an era for the Serbs with boss Ljubisa Tumbakovic axed and stars such as Nemanja Matic and Luka Milivojevic retiring.
Legend Dragan Stojkovic has taken over and should get off to a winning start against an Irish side who have yet to win in eight games since Stephen Kenny took charge.

Kenny’s men haven’t even managed a goal in their last seven so a Serbia clean sheet appeals here at 10/11 with McBookie.
The Serbs are odds-on favourites with every firm but doubling a home win with under 2.5 goals in a McBookie bet builder pays 191/100.
Belgium v Wales
The game of the night sees Wales travel to Leuven for a clash with a star-studded Belgium side.
The Welsh memorably shocked Belgium with a 3-1 win at Euro 2016 en route to the semi-finals.
But the bookies have written them off here and the Dragons are as big as 12/1 with BetVictor for a win.
Roberto Martinez’s side haven’t been solid at the back, keeping a clean sheet in just two of their last eight games.
That lends appeal to both teams to score at 13/10 with McBookie while over 2.5 goals pays 3/4 which is decent for accumulators.
World Cup Double
For a World Cup double, I’m backing the Czechs to win in Estonia and Slovakia to defeat Cyprus on the road. That pays 112/100 at McBookie.
Super single
- Serbia clean sheet (10/11, McBookie)
Deadly double
- Czech Rep and Slovakia (112/100, McBookie)
McBookie star bet
- It could be tight in Belgrade and a one-goal winning margin for either side pays 29/20
