IT’S slim Premiership pickings for punters this weekend with just two games taking place.
But both matches are crucial as Hibs look to cement third place while Ross County and Hamilton seek precious points in their battle against the drop.
Ross County v Hibernian
The Hibees head to Dingwall knowing a win would fire them six clear of an Aberdeen team in disarray after the departure of manager Derek McInnes.
With the Dons winning just once in their last nine games, the Easter Road men should really be much further clear in third spot.
But Jack Ross’ side have lost their last two games to
Motherwell and St Johnstone after a run of four victories on the spin.
They also crashed 2-0 at home to County back in December so I’m surprised Hibs are hot 3/4 favourites (McBookie).
The Staggies look overpriced at 7/2 with the same firm but I’m steering clear of backing a result as it’s a tough one to call.
John Hughes has improved County since replacing Stuart Kettlewell and has masterminded some wins against the big boys, beating Celtic and Aberdeen as well as the Hibees.
Backing both teams to score paid off for me last weekend when County beat relegation rivals Kilmarnock so I’ll revisit it here at evens with SportNation.
Billy Mckay scored a double in that game so he looks good value at 19/5 with Unibet for anytime scorer while Martin Boyle is the best bet for a Hibs strike at 15/8 with Bet365.
Livingston v Hamilton
Hamilton sit three points behind County and head into their clash at Livingston looking to move four clear of Kilmarnock at the bottom of the table.
Accies have gone four games without a win since their thrilling 4-1 derby triumph over Motherwell.
But three of those matches have ended in draws, summing up their fighting spirit.
They look overpriced at 5/1 with McBookie to beat a Livi side who have lost five of their last six.
Defeat in the League Cup Final seems to have hit Livi hard and they now need to stop their season from petering out.
A point here would be enough to guarantee a top-six finish though and I wouldn’t be surprised if this ended in another stalemate (14/5 McBookie).
Both teams to score has come up in two of the last three meetings so I fancy it here at 6/5 (McBookie).
Livi have picked up 10 yellows in their last two games, making the card markets appealing.
John Guthrie has three bookings in his last four outings and is 6/4 at McBookie to be carded while over 3.5 match cards is 10/11.
Hearts v Ayr United
Championship leaders Hearts should be too strong for Ayr at Tynecastle. I fancy a home win with over 2.5 goals, which is priced 17/20 at McBookie.
Liam Boyce has been in form for the Jambos and is evens with Paddy Power to grab a goal.
Dundee v Arbroath
Dundee will look to bounce back at home to Arbroath and doubling a win with both teams to score pays 11/5 with McBookie.
Queen of the South v Alloa
In-form Queen of the South host rock-bottom Alloa and look good value at evens (McBookie) to win.
Dunfermline v Morton
Both teams to score (9/10, McBookie) appeals as new Morton boss Gus MacPherson starts with a tough trip to Dunfermline.
