Fruit N Nut’s a nice young horse who won well at Catterick on Wednesday making it back-to-back bumper wins. He would have liked better ground but did it nicely to win with a penalty. I’ve had a fairly quiet week but it’s been nice to get a couple of winners and hopefully I’ll get a few more on the board this weekend!

Saturday 13th March – Ayr
1.57pm – Hidden Dilemma
Hidden Dilemma is a mare who has won at Carlisle twice on soft and heavy ground, once over 2m4f, and is near enough back to her last winning mark. I’ve only ridden her once before but am hopeful she’s got a chance.
2.32pm – Sergeant Brody
He’s a point to point winner who’s been running OK of late – you’d like to think the trainer, Sam Drinkwater, taking Sergeant Brody all that way to Ayr is a tip in itself.
3.07pm – Capard King
Sandy Thomson’s got two in the race and on the best of his form, I’d give this lad a chance. Capard King jumps and stays well but he’s not getting any younger – he’s 12 now so would need to improve on what he’s done on his latest two runs to figure.
3.42pm – Mayo Star
Mayo Star won his last two hurdle races, one of which was at Ayr over this course and distance on similar ground, and since then finished 4th in a novice chase after a bit of time off. It looks a nice sort of race and although there’s plenty in there with chances, I’d say he’s fairly unexposed over hurdles. It will be his first run in a handicap hurdle, he’s going well at home, we’re looking forward to running him and we’re hopeful he has a decent chance.
4.20pm – Wetlands
Wetlands has not run a bad race all year, he’s won his last two, first up at Ayr over 2miles in December and then at Newcastle over this trip last time out. The track, trip and ground won’t be an issue. Obviously he’s got a double penalty and is giving 12lb to Tamar Bridge who won a bumper at Haydock before getting a bit outpaced on his hurdle debut at Wetherby but Wetlands has a good level of form and we expect him to run a big race.
4.55pm – Pistol Park
He ran well with me at Ayr at the start of the year and finished second the last day at Carlisle – the winner of that race has come out and won again so the form is strong. Obviously Pistol Park has got Ardera Cross to beat, a last time out winner, but he’s had a nice length of time between his last run and this plus the trip, ground and track won’t be an issue for him, so I’m hopeful for a big run.
5.30pm – Arlo
It’s not a big field with six runners but it looks a competitive race. Three of them have won at this track before so they carry a penalty. Arlo finished 4th in his one and only start, an Irish point to point in October, connections think a lot of him and say he’s in good form at home so we’re hoping he puts his best foot forward and is competitive.
