It could be a big weekend for Rangers in the Premiership, KevMac is on hand to cast his eye over their match against St mirren and the rest of the Scottish card.
Rangers v St Mirren
YOU could have bet the house on Rangers winning the Premiership pretty much from the moment they sealed a New Year derby win over Celtic.
And this could be the weekend they finally get their hands on the title deeds with fans desperate to celebrate a return to the top of the tree after a decade-long wait.
For the party to start, Gers need to see off St Mirren at Ibrox today then hope the Hoops slip up against Dundee United at Tannadice tomorrow.
Such a scenario isn’t too far fetched and it’s priced 337/100 at McBookie if you double a Gers win with Dundee United in the double chance market.
I fancied Steven Gerrard’s men to comfortably beat Livingston on Wednesday as the Lions were wounded after their Betfred Cup heartache.
But instead they were made to sweat, with Alfredo Morelos netting the only goal three minutes from time to bring up my scorer tip.
The Colombian has roared back to life heading down the home straight and has netted four times in his last five games.
So I’m surprised he’s not odds-on with most firms for anytime scorer here. Morelos is 21/20 with BetVictor and that looks excellent value, especially for accumulators.
A Rangers win to nil has been the value bet for punters all season, trapping in an amazing 29 matches.
I thought that bet would also be odds-on here but it’s evens at McBookie which again looks really good value.
The Buddies are the only team to have beaten Gers all season and they also have plenty to play for as they look to seal a top-six slot.
But they have lost their last six at Ibrox without grabbing a goal so it could be a long afternoon for Jim Goodwin’s men.
Dundee Utd v Celtic
Dundee United still have a chance of pipping St Mirren to sixth place but need a win over Celtic to keep their hopes alive.
Micky Mellon’s side sat deep and tried to frustrate the Hoops when these sides met in Tayside at the start of the season.
It backfired as sub Albian Ajeti netted the only goal late on but parking the bus will do United no good this time as they need maximum points.
This should be a more open game so both teams to score appeals at 23/20 (McBookie).
It might take a bit of magic to unlock the defences and for a long-odds bet you could do worse than back Ryan Christie to score from outside the box at 10/1 with McBookie.
Ross County v Kilmarnock
There’s a massive clash at the bottom of the table as Ross County host a Kilmarnock side without a win in nine matches.
But Killie looked a bit better in last week’s draw against United and Kyle Lafferty has added more threat up front.
So I’m going to back both teams to score at 10/11 with McBookie, a bet that has landed in the last three meetings.
St Johnstone v Hibernian
St Johnstone’s clash with Hibs in Perth has the makings of a draw, which pays a best 28/13 at SBK.
Motherwell v Livingston could also be tight so I fancy the half-time draw (evens, McBookie) while over 1.5 Aberdeen goals (4/6, Betfred) appeals as they host Hamilton.
Scottish Championship
The game of the day in Scotland arguably comes at Tynecastle as Dundee take on Hearts, with goals pretty much guaranteed.
The Jambos won 6-2 when these sides last faced off in the capital before the Dark Blues got their revenge with a 3-1 home win.
Both teams to score has come up in Dundee’s last 11 so I fancy it here at 4/5 with McBookie while over 3.5 goals is 9/5.
Backing Jason Cummings for a midweek goal paid off for me so I’m sticking with the former Hibs man here at 11/8 with McBookie.
Alloa are even more reliable for BTTS than Dundee, with that bet landing in their last 13.
The Wasps host Inverness today and both teams to score is 4/6 with McBookie. Doubling it with over 2.5 goals pays 9/10.
Morton look good value at 13/8 to beat freefalling Ayr at home but the clash between form sides Queen of the South and Arbroath could end level (9/4, McBookie).
Super Singles
- Alfredo Morelos anytime scorer (21/20, Bet Victor)
- BTTS in County v Killie (10/11, McBookie)
- Morton (13/8, McBookie)
- BTTS at Hearts (4/5)
Long-shot
- Christie to score outside area (10/1, McBookie)
