Wolves to Take Advantage of Toothless Toon

26/02/2021 admin

Wolves will be looking to extend their winning run when they head north to face relegation-threatened Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Wolves’ season fell apart after talisman Raul Jimenez suffered a fractured skull in the 2-1 victory over Arsenal on November 29.

The West Midlands outfit seriously struggled in the Mexican’s absence, winning just one of the following 11 Premier League fixtures and subsequently started to slide down the standings.

However, Wolves’ form has taken a turn for the better over recent weeks and they head to Newcastle unbeaten in four league outings, winning each of their last two.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have a fantastic opportunity to make it three successive league wins for the first time since June and can be backed at 13/10 to prevail at St James’ Park.

Newcastle head into the clash sitting 17th and just three points clear of the relegation zone, winning just two of their last 14 league engagements.

The absence of summer signing Callum Wilson can’t be understated with the former Bournemouth man netting 10 of Newcastle’s 26 goals this term, while he has chipped in with a further five assists.

Disappointed that I’m gonna have to miss the next few months due to this hamstring 🙄🤦🏽‍♂️ just another bump along the road that I will come back fitter and stronger from! 💪🏾 pic.twitter.com/2VmHwAWZIV

Steve Bruce has a distinct lack of options to fill in for Wilson and Wolves should have the tools to continue building momentum.

Fulham Set Sights on Safety

Few gave Fulham a hope of beating relegation after they failed to win any of their opening six matches, picking up just one point in the process.

The Cottagers still only boast four victories but have seriously boosted their chances of surviving by collecting 10 draws along the way.

Fulham’s wins this campaign have come against West Brom, Leicester, Everton and Sheffield United, with the latter two landing this month to extend their unbeaten streak to four.

The majority of their points have come on the road and a trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday provides another big chance to enhance their tally.

A win would move them out of the bottom three for the first time since early December if Newcastle fall to a defeat on Saturday.

Palace defeated Brighton last time out but that was very much a smash and grab as Christian Benteke netted a stoppage-time winner.

There has been plenty of unrest behind the scenes and fans have been extremely critical of what they see as negative tactics from veteran boss Roy Hodgson.

It’s also worth noting that top scorer Wilfried Zaha is unavailable once again to add further fuel to the argument that Fulham, who are priced at 5/4, can come out on top at Selhurst Park.

Toffees Hoping to End Home Issues

Everton remain firmly in the race for a top-six spot and could still even potentially mount a challenge for a Champions League berth.

They start this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting seventh, behind sixth-placed Liverpool on goal difference and just five points shy of West Ham in fourth.

The Toffees have a game in hand on each of the six sides placed ahead of them but their home form has prevented them from building serious momentum.

Carlo Ancelotti has overseen just four victories at Goodison Park this campaign but Everton will be optimistic of added a fifth to that tally when Southampton head to Merseyside on Monday.

Saints have won just three times on the road, losing each of the last four, and they are winless in seven league outings, including a 9-0 thrashing at Manchester United.

Everton’s win at Liverpool last time out would have helped to further raise confidence levels within the squad and they look an attractive option at 6/5.
