Fiorentina has a heavy season behind her and is now a big favorite at home against Spezia in Italian Serie A on 19 February 2021.
If you just glance at Friday’s meeting between Fiorentina and Spezia in Italian Serie A, it’s obvious that you keep the home team as clear favorites, then really only based on the club name and the history that it brings.
Spezia has, as a newcomer, been a defeated team from the beginning, and in periods it has really felt right to treat the team as it. But in periods of time, they have also shown fantastic results and efforts.
This is exactly the kind of trend that we see now at the end when Spezia comes to this meeting after two straight wins against top teams in Serie A. Last time it was AC Milan who was stripped down overall, where Spezia was not only the best playing team but also won 2-0.
It was not in the least unfair that time, nor in the match before beating Sassuolo with comfortable 2-1 away. In other words, it is a team that has found the form at the end, after three straight losses (also to difficult teams, and Udinese) before.
If it weren’t for being quite uneven, you would probably have been higher up, but the latter part of the season that you have had impresses. Three of the team’s last six wins have come in the last month. Oh, that’s impressive.
Fiorentina scares no one
At the same time, we have a Fiorentina that really doesn’t scare anyone and who in 22 rounds still has only five wins. That’s hardly what expectations you had for this season.
Fiorentina has an exciting team with Franck Ribery who is a star, but let’s note that Chiesa has been a bit missed. It’s a player you haven’t even come close to being able to replace this season.
Now you come from two straight losses and despite being favorites at home against Spezia I can’t see how to take on this fight with the respect required. Fiorentina has had a clear trend of weak efforts against teams in the lower half of the season. It’s like motivation then is a problem.
