Wolfsburg will attempt to further boost their hopes of a top-four finish when they head to relegation-threatened Arminia Bielefeld on Friday.
After finishing in the relegation playoff spot for two successive seasons and going through five managers in the space of 16 months, Wolfsburg turned a corner in 2018-19 as they finished sixth.
They backed that up with a seventh-place finish last term and look to be building further on that in 2020-21 as they currently sit fourth and have their sights set on a Champions League berth.
Friday’s trip to Arminia Bielefeld, who returned to the top flight this season, offers a perfect opportunity to put another three points on the board.
A run of seven games unbeaten, which includes four victories along with draws against European rivals Borussia Monchengladbach and RB Leipzig, has Wolfsburg trailing second-placed Leipzig by just five points.
Wolfsburg’s success this campaign has been built on solid foundations at the back, conceding just 19 times, and they look well placed to win to zero, which is available at 7/4, at Bielefeld.
The hosts are the second lowest scorers in the division, netting 18 goals across 20 outings.
Leipzig Looking to Maintain Pressure
RB Leipzig look like the only side capable of putting some pressure on leaders Bayern Munich in the race for the title this season.
They start this weekend’s matchday sitting second and five points adrift of the defending champions as they prepare for a trip to Hertha Berlin on Sunday.
Momentum was building nicely for Julian Nagelsmann’s men, winning four in a row across all competitions until they went down 2-0 to Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Nagelsmann will be demanding a response and Hertha, who are without a win in seven, could be set for a long afternoon in the capital.
Indeed, Hertha are 15th and have won just once since December 4, beating rock-bottom Schalke, while they have failed to win against Mainz and Bielefeld, who are both ranked below them, over recent weeks.
They have the fourth worst defensive record in the Bundesliga and have conceded at least three goals and lost in each of their four previous home meetings with Leipzig.
Backing the visitors to win and over 2.5 goals at 7/5 looks the way to go for this clash at the Olympiastadion.
Frankfurt Can Frustrate Champions
After returning from a successful Club World Cup campaign in Qatar, Bayern Munich looked tired as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Bielefeld on Monday.
Fatigue is likely to have played a big part in that slip up but injuries have also started to take a toll on the Bavarian outfit over recent weeks.
Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, Benjamin Pavard, Corentin Tolisso and Douglas Costa are unavailable for Saturday’s trip to Frankfurt.
The long list of absentees will offer further optimism to an ever-improving Frankfurt, who sit third after enjoying a 10-match unbeaten run in the league.
They have won their last four outings and they can take further confidence from last season’s home engagement with Bayern when they ran out 5-1 victors.
Frankfurt certainly appear to have the tools to upset the defending champions and they offer value at 11/10 in the double chance market.
Meanwhile, backing Andre Silva to score anytime at 7/5 also looks an extremely attractive option as he continues to enjoy a strong campaign in front of goal.
After impressing on-loan at Deutsche Bank Park in 2019-20, Silva has registered 18 times in 20 Bundesliga outings this term.
