Mark Walker previews his bet three bets in Scotland this weekend.
Dundee v Ayr United
DUNDEE were given the fright of their lives by Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish Cup, but in league business they’ve looked very decent recently and appear solid investments against struggling Ayr United.
The Dens Park men required an injury time leveller to prevent the ultimate ignominy of losing to the Lowland League side at home.
But previously to that, James McPake’s men had been in title-winning form really with three 3-1 wins in a row over Queen of the South, Alloa and, impressively, Hearts.
In fact, their last loss in the Championship came in November against Ayr, but both sides have arrowed off in different directions.
Mark Kerr’s side have gone five games in the league without a win and lost three of them, all away from Somerset Park.
With Charlie Adam continuing to look the best player in the league, he can provide ammunition to Osman Sow who has scored seven goals in his last five games.
You wouldn’t want to be going any shorter, but 8/11 looks a fair price.
Celtic v Livingston
CELTIC’S disasters have been well documented, but there could be value in backing them and both teams to score at home against in-form Livingston.
The Hoops will of course be without 13 players, but they still have the guts of a squad that should comfortably beat most teams in the league. As Livi boss David Martindale has pointed out, it’s worth at least £60 million.
Livingston are on a magnificent run of winning eight games in a row and they deserve all the praise going. They work for each other and are extremely well organised.
However, the run has to end some time and Parkhead could be that venue.
Livingston have enough about them to at least score in Glasgow though and they have in-form players such as Scott Robinson,
Josh Mullin and Julien Serrano who will fancy breaching an uneasy defence. BTTS and a Celtic win at 21/10 seems fair.
Hibernian v Kilmarnock
HIBS were heavily backed to beat Celtic in midweek and had to rely on a last gasp goal to gain a point, but there were signs in the latter stages of the game they were back to their best and they can beat Kilmarnock at home.
Key man Martin Boyle should be fit and that could make all the difference for Jack Ross’ side who need to get back to winning ways after a shaky spell.
Killie have improved recently, but there are still plenty of question marks over them and Hibs at almost evens should prevail.
