Friday kicks-off a weekend of cup action north and south of the border but it could be a bit of false start.
Liverpool’s visit to Aston Villa remains in doubt at the time of publishing due to a significant number of positive tests in the Villa camp that forced the club to close their training ground on Thursday. Fingers crossed for better news on Friday.
Wolves v Crystal Palace should go ahead as planned but in Scotland it’s highly unlikely that many of the Scottish Cup matches will beat the weather this weekend.
League Two side Queen’s Park welcome Queen of the South for a majestic battle at Hampden on Friday night and if that game doesn’t survive the freezing conditions then not many will.
But as Mr Fixit always advised on this weekend, keep your stakes small, it’s a notoriuosly difficult card for punters trying to decipher team news, form, relevant league positions etc. Take it easy.
Friday’s Tips
Should the match at Villa Park go ahead it should make for interesting viewing. By their own high standards Liverpool are in a fair old slump with just two wins in seven. They’ve shipped an astonishing 12 goals in their last two visits to Villa Park and as Maccathered pointed out in the comments on Thursday the FA Cup won’t be high up on Jurgen Klopp’s priorities this season – especially when his squad is already stretched.
