We’re heading for a quiet New Year’s Eve with very little football on across the planet today and that might be no bad thing!
Hibernian were the biggest let down of the day, going down 2-0 at home to bottom side Ross County – a win that lifts the Staggies off the bottom of the table. Celtic and Rangers both won comfortably and all eyes will now be on Ibrox at 12.30 on Saturday when the two Glasgow giants meet.
Spurs v Fulham fell victim to another late cancellation, sparking more calls for there to be circuit break in the professional game in England in the new year.
The match at St James’ Park went ahead however perhaps it would’ve been better if it didn’t. Newcastle and Liverpool slugged out another 0-0 draw which hands Manchester United the chance to finish the year top of the table – with a 9-0 win over Villa! (one for Maccathered there!)
