IT was a sad day as the death of Diego Maradona was announced but on the pitch it was even more miserable for Liverpool.
There was a minute’s silence for the Argentina legend before the Champions League matches but Atalanta showed no respect for the Anfield men who picked a weakened team.
Most people expected Jurgen Klopp to go for it and seal an early passage to the knockout stages but it looks as if he’s more focused on Brighton on Saturday.
He still started Mo Salah and Sadio Mane though and the Reds should have done better.
The Liverpool result beat my goals double and I was an Inter goal short for the Top Treble as Ajax and Borussia M’gladbach won easily.

Next up on Thursday it’s the latest round of Europa League ties with Spurs at home to Ludogerets, Leicester at Braga and Arsenal, Rangers and Celtic all in action.
Steven Gerrard says his side will push for the points and early qualification do let’s hope he doesn’t copy Klopp on this one – although it’s only Falkirk in the Betfred Cup on Sunday for his men.
Celtic were spanked 4-1 at home to Sparta Prague but Neil Lennon’s men seem keen on a revenge job and the under-pressure boss won’t survive too many more setbacks.
