With the esports year winding down for 2020, one esport always manages to pull through and offer people something to watch. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) is here in the form of the Flashpoint 2 Monday night matches. Below, check out our odds for the matches taking place on December 1st between Fnatic and Dignitas, and OG v MIBR.
Fnatic v Dignitas
The first match of the day is an all Swedish affair as Dignitas is looking to upset the odds and take down Fnatic. The previous meeting between the two sides saw Fnatic take a 2-0 victory, and Dignitas will be looking to overturn that this time. Fnatic comes into the series as the 12th ranked side in the World, though a poor showing at IEM Beijing-Haidian which saw the Swedes come last place. The side will need to come back strong here, and they’ve certainly looked a lot better during Flashpoint Season 2. Having beaten c0ntact 2-1, Dignitas 2-0 and MAD Lions 2-0, though they did lose to MAD Lions 2-1 in another match. We’ve got Fnatic at 4/25 favourites to take the series.
Flashpoint 2 did not start great for Dignitas, losing 2-0 to MAD Lions, it looked like it was going to be another poor showing. However, they turned it around against c0ntact, despite a loss to Fnatic previously, a victory against forZe showed that Dignitas has some life left. One major issue is their win rate on maps. Their only positive score (50%) is on Nuke, a map that Fnatic currently holds a 60% win rate on. As a result, we’ve got Dignitas out at 7/2 to take the victory against Fnatic.
OG v MIBR
Next up is European side OG, taking on the Brazilian’s of MIBR. OG comes into the series as 5/11 favourites, and it’s hard to see the Worlds rank six side not taking the victory. Picking up victories thus far against Cloud9, Gen.G, and Virtus.pro with a loss against Gen.G early on looking like a blip. OG will be looking to take down MIBR and lock in a spot in the Semi-Finals as they, like Fnatic, look to move on from a poor showing at IEM Beijing-Haidian.
MIBR are the underdogs here. At 5/8 to win the series, they’ll need to be a much stronger side than their 29th Worlds ranking shows them for. A tough loss to BIG was followed by two victories over Envy, and forZe. The side wasn’t able to take their victory form into a payback victory against BIG, however, with the Brazilian side losing for a second time. As for map pools, Nuke and Dust 2 should provide the most likely way to victory for MIBR, though OG also has a strong win-rate on Dust 2. This should be a win for OG, but don’t sleep on the Brazilian roster just yet.
