“As I said last week the Warriors look to be the biggest threat to title favourites Queen’s Park after some extremely good summer signings. I fancy them to finish above Edinburgh City who also started well last Saturday.
“So I was shocked on Friday morning to see Stenny having drifted out from an opening 23-20 on Monday to 7-5 outsiders with McBookie.
“I always price games blind and then look at the odds and Stenhousemuir are odds-on chances to my eyes.
“A word of warning here. In these Covid times information about positive tests may leak out before official announcements so if there are drifts it’s best to wait until an hour before kick-off once all the information is out and the starting 11s known before parting with your hard-earned.
“But if Stenhousemuir field a full squad I will be getting stuck in at 7-5 and all the handicaps about them. It looks an early Christmas present.
“And that should mean some decent first-scorer value about their exciting forward line-up. I won’t repeat myself about Stenny striker Spence from last week but stepping down from Championship football at the beginning of this year to now League Two he is going to get lots of goals.
“And because of the inflated Stenny prices he can be backed at 11-2 with McBookie to score the opener once again.
“In the Championship it is hard not to be impressed by the start made by Dunfermline. The Pars followed three straight League Cup wins with a 3-1 defeat of Inverness Caley Thistle in a game they dominated and also restricted the visitors to a single shot on target.
“And in their four games to date in all competitions they have conceded just a single goal, scoring nine themselves. I expect them to have a good season and on Saturday they travel to face Alloa who began their Championship campaign with a 1-0 defeat away to Morton.
“The odds of 10-11 about a Pars win look good and I am going to weigh in with defender Euan Murray to score the opening goal.
“Murray is excellent in the air and has been getting some fantastic set-piece service from Dom Thomas. As a result Murray has four goals from four games and is 12-1 with McBookie to make it five from five with the first goal.
“Finally, Ayr United could prove to be some value at 5-2 away to Caley Thistle who have found goals and even shots hard to come by this season.
“ICT were even held to a 0-0 draw at home to Cowdenbeath of League Two in the League Cup and subsequently lost 3-0 at home to Annan in their opening league game.
“So the evens on offer about Inverness looks poor value and the visitors are surely the bet until we see some more from the home side.
“Dons loanee Bruce Anderson failed to get on the scoresheet in Ayr’s opening Championship fixture but has two goals already since joining the Honest Men this season and is 7-1 to score the game’s first goal with McBookie.”
