A trio of Bet Builder winners across Friday, Saturday and Sunday made for a cracking weekend on the continent and I’m hoping for more of the same on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
RB Leipzig vs Istanbul Basaksehir (Tuesday, 20:00)
RB Leipzig will be looking to hit the ground running in Group H when they welcome Istanbul Basaksehir to the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday night.
Leipzig, under the stewardship of the young and innovative Julian Naglesmann, lead the way in the Bundesliga and Die Roten Bullen lit up the Champions League last term when charging towards the last-four of the competition.
Having said that, Leipzig have been drawn into the Champions League group of death where they have been joined by both Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain.
Consequently, Leipzig’s opening European assignment of the season will represent their most favourable fixture on paper and as such there will be no room for error when they play host to Istanbul Basaksehir.
The reigning Turkish champions are dining at Europe’s top table for the time in their history, however, their early-season form suggests that they could be set for a baptism of fire when they lock horns with the Red Bulls.
Okan Buruk’s boys have won just one of their opening five Turkish Super Liga tussles and they come into this clash occupying a place in the relegation zone.
Such wretched form does not bode well ahead of a bout with Bundesliga leaders Leipzig who have won four of their first five competitive fixtures of the season.
The hosts are red-hot favourites at a general 1/4 and therefore in search of some value I’ve decided to dip into Sky Bet’s Request A Bet market where we can back two or more Leipzig goals and Istanbul Basaksehir to collect 20+ booking points at 10/11 with Sky Bet.
Naglesmann’s vibrant young side have scored two or more goals in four of their opening five fixtures of the season, while the visitors have conceded at least twice across three of their four defeats thus far.
Therefore, I’m more than happy to back the Red Bulls to make the net bulge at least twice on Tuesday night and I also like the look of backing Basaksehir to collect 20+ booking points during this contest.
Buruk has an ageing squad at his disposal and I suspect Leipzig will have the tools to trouble a team that received 20+ booking points in seven of their final nine Europa League outings last season.
With that in mind, coupled with the Turks terrible start to the season, the above-mentioned combination looks like a nice way of trying to squeeze some value out of a home success.
