1.00 – EBF Maiden Stakes (1m)
A pair of likely looking newcomers from the John Gosden team are on show here with IMPERIAN SUN preferred to Patrolman. Frankie Dettori partners the former, a son of Sea The Stars and a half-brother to the St Leger winner Harbour Law and Group 3-placed Moheet. He should go well. Encounter Order sets the standard of those with racecourse form.
Selection: Imperial Sun – 5/2
1.30 – EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (1m)
This is a Fillies’ maiden and, again, the Gosden/Dettori team have a likely one on paper with Missile, while Ocean Road is also one to note on debut for Hugo Palmer and Oisin Murphy. Noon Star showed promise on debut at Salisbury amid greenness and represents last year’s winning trainer/jockey combo but WOOTTON CREEK could be hard to beat. She found only Group 3 Oh So Sharp winner Saffron Beach too good at Newmarket on debut, while the third was also a winner at Headquarters over the weekend. Further progress is likely and should see in-form William Buick amongst the winners again.
Selection: Wootton Creek – 3/1
2.00 – Watch And Bet At MansionBet Nursery (1m)
LUXY LOU made a fine fist of things from the front at Newbury last month (7f, good), eventually finishing third behind Andrew Balding’s Oo De Lally (winner again since under penalty). Sean Levey’s mount has top weight not but should go well and is preferred despite Ryan Moore riding stablemate Joy Choi.
Selection: Luxy Lou – 10/1
2.35 – Follow MansionBet On Twitter Handicap (1m2f)
Haydock winner Vulcan could scarcely have been more impressive last time under Saffie Osborne and needs maximum respect but this is much tougher on paper and, at the forecast prices, preference is for BALZAC. He won well at Newbury in July and changed hands soon after. He now debuts for the Stuart Williams yard and, in first-time tongue-tie, should make further progress on only his third start.
Selection: Balzac – 4/1
3.10 – Play 3-2-Win At MansionBet Nursery (5f)
Dark Illusion and Julie Johnston are strongly considered but FANTASY MASTER was much-improved when getting on the scoresheet on turf bow over C&D recently and may be able to give in-form Silvestre De Sousa another winner. A mark of 76 looks fair and he should handle the extra ease in the ground.
Selection: Fantasy Master – 3/1
3.45 – Rous Stakes (Listed, 5f)
A cracking Listed sprint here with Saturday’s York Group 3 winner Dakota Gold setting the standard, despite the penalty he must carry. Michael Dods’ charge won’t be turned over easily if this race doesn’t come too soon, while both Nunthorpe third Moss Gill and Tis Marvellous have valid claims at best. ALJADY is thriving since joining Robert Cowell and his latest Beverley wins ensures he’s well worth a start in this grade. He could still have more to offer and is 2-2 at this distance.
Selection: Aljady – 4/1
4.20 – MansionBet Proud To Support British Racing Handicap (5f)
Three-time C&D winner WRENTHORPE makes his first visit to Nottingham in 2020 at the season draws near to a halt here. He does so having gone very close to a first win of the year at Redcar last week (5f, soft) from 1lb lower in the ratings. He’ll act on soft ground and any further deterioration won’t be a hindrance.
Selection: Wrenthorpe – 5/1
4.50 – Download The MansionBet App Handicap Division 1 (5f)
She remains a maiden but surely MECCA’S HOT STEPS will get a change of fortune soon for Michael Dods and Connor Beasley. She has been very consistent this season on varying ground over this 5f distance, including near misses at Hamilton (soft) and Ayr (good to firm). She wasn’t quite seen to best effect last time over 6f at Redcar but the handicapper has surely afforded her a chance now with a 3lb release and, on ground that she will handle, she may take it.
Selection: Mecca’s Hot Steps – 13/2
5.20 – Download The MansionBet App Handicap Division 2 (5f)
LYDIATE LADY was a C&D winner on heavy ground in November last year on her final start for the Eric Alson team and she might be able to oblige again back here with conditions favourable. She ran her best race of the term at Catterick (5f, soft) eight days ago and has now slipped 3lb below that previous win-mark. Gemma Tutty claims 3lb in the saddle and they should be right in the firing line.
Selection: Lydiate Lady – 5/1.
