Reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs’ match with New England Patriots will not take place after both teams confirmed positive Covid-19 tests within their ranks, although that fixture could be rescheduled for as early as next week.
Despite that postponement, there is still plenty of exciting action for us to get our teeth into, with some sides looking to put down an early marker in the race to make it to Super Bowl LV.
Allen to Spearhead Bills Attack
The Buffalo Bills have not exactly been one of the big hitters in the NFL over recent years, as they have only twice made it through to the playoffs during the 21st century, but this season they could well be the real deal.
Sean McDermott’s team are 3-0 for the season and if they record another win at the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday it will be the first time they have started a campaign with four successive victories since 2008.
One of the main reasons for the Bills’ early season success is the form of quarterback Josh Allen, who has been posting MVP level numbers so far this term, registering 1,038 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception to date.
If the 24-year-old can maintain that form at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, the Bills will have a great chance of picking up the win, which is available at 5/9.
Seahawks Seeking More Away Day Success
Another side that have made a surprisingly strong opening to the season are the Seattle Seahawks, who can go 4-0 at the start of the campaign for just the second time in the franchise’s history if they win at the Miami Dolphins.
The Seahawks have been in great form away from CenturyLink Field over recent times, as they are 8-1 on their travels since the start of last season, a run that includes a 38-25 victory at Atlanta Falcons in their 2020 opener.
Miami are improved from last season despite their 1-2 record, but they have already lost to the Patriots and the Bills this term and another defeat could be on the cards on Sunday at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Bears to Grind Out Another Victory
Chicago Bears may be 3-0 for the season but they could have easily lost all of those games, as they narrowly edged out the Detroit Lions, the New York Giants and, most recently, the Atlanta Falcons.
That could suggest that Matt Nagy’s side are due a defeat, but it could also mean they have found a winning formula and can grind out results.
Indianapolis Colts are the visitors to Soldier Field on Sunday and they boast a 2-1 record so far this season, but that defeat was on their last away trip to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Colts have been strong defensively of late but the Bears should have enough to get over the line in this one, particularly if they can keep the threat of Jonathan Taylor and the visitor’s impressive running game at bay.
