Norwich City boss Daniel Farke knows what it takes to win the Championship title and his side got their campaign off to a winning start on the first weekend of the season.
Canaries Make Flying Start
It might not have been the most comfortable victory for the Canaries on the road in West Yorkshire but it was important to bag the three points against Huddersfield Town in a 1-0 win.
Farke helped beat the likes of Sheffield United and Leeds to the Championship title with Norwich back in the 2018-19 season and the German is more than capable of delivering for the Canaries again this term.
Norwich are currently the 9/2 favourites to finish top of the pile come the end of the season.
Others Wary of Hornets’ Sting
Watford got their own bid to bounce straight back up into the Premier League after a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough on the opening night.
It was a Craig Cathcart goal that proved to be the difference at Vicarage Road on Friday night and new boss Vladimir Ivic will be pleased with his team’s defensive efforts to keep a clean sheet.
Ivic has no managerial experience in the Championship but what he does have is a squad that still possess Premier League quality, despite losing some big names over the summer window.
The Hornets are available at 7/4 to be promoted from the Championship this season, while they are 5/1 to lift the trophy come the end of the campaign.
Swans’ Start Suggests they’ll Shine
Swansea started last season promisingly and they have done the same again this season following a 1-0 win at Preston North End on the opening weekend.
Preston has not been an easy place to win in recent seasons but Steve Cooper’s side got the job done with the three points on Saturday.
Swansea brought in the talented Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves on loan and he looks to be a great addition to the squad.
If the Swans can also keep hold of forward Andre Ayew, who is 25/1 to be the league’s top goalscorer this season, then they should be there or thereabouts come the play-offs next May.
Swansea are 14/1 to win the title and 9/2 to earn promotion back to the Premier League.
Chairboys Must Learn Quickly
It looks like Championship new boys Wycombe Wanderers have a tough season ahead of them after a 1-0 home defeat to Rotherham United in their opening game.
Wycombe looked like they were going to secure a deserved point before a 92nd-minute winner from Michael Ihiekwe broke Wanderers’ hearts.
Gareth Ainsworth’s side will have to learn quickly that you can’t afford to switch off at this level and they will hope that points start to come their way in the coming weeks.
Wycombe are 2/5 to be relegated, while Rotherham are 5/2 to drop back down to League One.
