AFTER a few quiet days we now start a run of Nations League games.
The inaugural tournament last year was much maligned but soon grew on punters as they were better than the friendlies they replaced and gave some teams a much better chance of reaching the Euro finals. Countries such as Scotland.
There are 10 games on Thursday at different tiers including Germany vs Spain, Bulgaria vs Ireland and Finland vs Wales.
I’ll have had a look at the games in the morning before posting tips. For now I’m concentrating on Saturday’s card as I’m filling the pages in the Record for the first time since June.
Kevin Mac’s been filling in for me but he’s nursing a football injury and I wish him a quick recovery.
At first glance I fancy Germany, Ireland and Russia at home to Serbia but I won’t have a closer look at team news before posting tips.
It’s a big night for Irish boss Stephen Kenny in his first game in charge and he’ll at least want to avoid defeat having named an experienced squad that looks set up to keep the home side contained.
Teemu Pukki will play for Finland instead of Norwich in the EFL Cup and he will be up against a Wales side without Aaron Ramsey and boasting Gareth Bale who isn’t match fit after playing just one game for Real Madrid after the season restarted.
Kosovo impressed last season and you’d expect them to win away to Moldova and looking at the minnows you have to fancy Latvia at home to Andorra and the Faroes at home to Malta.
Let’s hear your thoughts on the games and I’ll add mine in the morning.
Well done to any winners on Wednesday and let’s hear everyone’s thoughts on Lionel Messi’s potential move to Man City. It’s certainly sparked some debate on the site this week.
