ONE day to go until the Nations League matches and most punters have had a couple of days off.
Tuesday was a quiet one but I did tune in to a live FA Cup qualifier between Maine Road FC and Squires Gate on BBC. The quality was missing but good to see fans in the ground.
There are 10 Nations League encounters on Thursday including Germany vs Spain, Russia vs Ireland and Finland vs Wales.
There were more Europa League draws on Tuesday and for the third year running Rangers could face Luxembourg side Progres Niederkorn. Celtic should be preparing for a clash with Latvians Riga and Aberdeen tackle Sporting Lisbon if they beat Viking.
Meanwhile, McBookie released some Scottish anteposts and are all but giving Hearts the Championship title next season.
The Scots firm have installed the Jambos as red-hot 1-8 favourites to finish top and return to the Premiership from where they maintain they were unfairly relegated.
Hearts are followed in the betting by Dundee on 10-1 and Inverness Caley Thistle on 16-1 – and remember the season will last just 27 games.
McBookie spokesman Paul Petrie said: “Hearts didn’t want to be playing in the Championship this season but we don’t think their time in the lower league will be for more than one season. It would be a major shock if they aren’t lifting the title come the end of the season.”
With sided facing each other three times instead of four McBookie offer just 5-1 the Jambos will have an invincible season. It’s possible but for me the price is a little skinny.
Championship betting: 1-8 Hearts, 10-1 Dundee, 16-1 ICT, 25-1 Dunfermline, 33-1 Ayr, 66-1 Morton, 100-1 Arbroath, 150-1 Raith, QoS, 200-1 Alloa.
Well done to all the winners on Tuesday and good luck if you’re having a bet on Wednesday. I’ll have tips for Thursday’s matches.
