LYON are back in French league action on Friday after being given a week off following their Champions League run.
Rudi Garcia’s men gave Bayern a decent test in the semis before being overpowered 3-0.
Now they hope to get off to a good start at home to Dijon after finishing seventh last season and failing to qualify for Europe.
Dijon crashed 1-0 to Angers last week and are unlikely to trouble a classy side who are likely to pair Memphis Depay and Moussa Dembele up front after playing just one striker in their Champions League knockout ties.
Lyon should win this by at least two at 10-11 with Betfred and I fancy Dembele, who netted twice off the bench against Man City in the CL quarters, to strike first if he starts.
Elsewhere Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht are looking to bounce back from last week’s misery when they conceded a last-minute equaliser at home to Mouscron. Kompany has hung up the boots to concentrate on management but his side face a tough test at Oostende and both to score could be the best bet at 4-6 with William Hill.
Not much else on apart from a couple of Dutch second-tier games and some friendlies.
Well done to all the winners on Thursday with plenty cashing in on the Europa League.
Aberdeen and Motherwell notched big wins but the latter didn’t net the first of their five until after the break when Glentoran had been reduced to 10.
Result of the night was Coleraine’s win on penalties away to seasoned campaigners Maribor who have claimed some big scalps in recent years.
Daily Double
- Lyon -1 (8pm)
- Oostende vs Anderlecht btts
- (2-1, Betfred)
