THE only online bookmaker listing first-scorer prices on all SPFL games are McBookie .com.
It’s a great service they provide and we’ve teamed up with the Scots firm to look at some of the best bets from the opening weekend of the Scottish Premiership.
Here is McBookie.com’s Damian Walker with his week two selections.
He says: “Two correct results out of three in this column on the opening weekend of the Premiership but sadly no first goalscorer to go with them.
“All the talk this week has been about Aberdeen and their match with St Johnstone has been postponed after players broke lockdown rules.
“I am going to start this week with the Hamilton v Ross County – a match that could see these two sides battling it out for Premiership survival at the end of the season.
“I thought the Accies actually did pretty well in their 5-1 defeat at Celtic Park last weekend. You could not fault their effort and could have scored the opener as well as later on.
“Celtic were head and shoulders above them but Hamilton won’t face a striker of Odsonne Edouard’s quality every week and certainly not against Ross County.
“You can probably tell where this is going and I’m tipping 17-10 shots and outsiders Accies for a win.
“One of the interesting facts to come out of Sunday’s game was the average age of the Accies players who started against Celtic was just 22.
“Boss Brian Rice is putting his faith in a hard-working, young side to get him results and they might just do enough to avoid automatic relegation for which they are 6-4 favourites.
“Zimbabwean striker David Moyo at 25 years of age is a veteran by Accies’ standards and should have put them in front last weekend but squandered a free header.
“McBookie make him 5-1 to make amends by scoring the opening goal.
“I tipped Hibs last weekend and see no reason to desert them away to Livingston.
“There was a big punt on Livi from 9-4 into 13-8 favourites away to St Mirren but the opening-day gamble was foiled as the home side ran out 1-0 winners.
“Hibs under Jack Ross showed massive improvement last season and started with a 2-1 win at home to Kilmarnock last weekend. I expect them to win at Livi for which they are surprisingly 9-5 outsiders.
“Martin Boyle got off to a flying start last weekend with a double and is 6-1 with McBookie to grab the opener.
“Finally, I am going to take a chance St Mirren can catch Rangers cold early after their Thursday night exertions against Bayer Leverkusen.
“I always think away trips in Europe take their toll and the Buddies are 9-2 to score the opening goal.
“Saints’ Jonathan Obika is 11- with McBookie to score the game’s first goal.”
Damian’s Diamonds
- Moyo (Hamilton) 5-1
- Boyle (Hibs) 6-1
- Obika (St Mirren) 11-1
