Leeds United are a Premier League club once more! West Brom’s defeat at Huddersfield on Friday night secured promotion AND the Championship title for Marcelo Bielsa with two games to spare.
The Elland Road club were 5/1 favourites to win the title and there will be plenty of punters in Yorkshire counting their money tonight.
That defeat for the Baggies would have been cheered just as loudly by Brentford fans who could now see their side move in to second place with a win at Stoke on Saturday after a brilliantly timed run of form.
It’s one of the biggest games in the Bees’ history and their task is now clear; win the next two matches and they’ll be in the Premier League. With a home match against already-relegated Barnsley on the final matchday it’s all about taking the three points on Saturday. They’re 3/5 to win.
West Ham will almost certainly be in the Premier League alongside Leeds Utd next season. Their 3-1 win at home to Watford put them six points ahead and significantly better goal difference than the teams occupying 18th and 19th position in the table.
Norwich v Burnley is the only Premier League match on Saturday but it’s a bit of a dead rubber with the Canaries already down and there being no propsect of European football for Sean Dyche’s men.
Instead, all the attention will be on the first FA Cup semi-final of the weekend on Saturday night. It’ll an eerie experience for the players inside an empty 90,000-capacity Wembley Stadium. You can read our match previews for each game below as well as getting a head start on Sunday’s matches.
