The battle to finish in the European places in the Premier League is intensifying and Wolves will aim to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive with a victory over Burnley on Wednesday night.
There are four top flight games in total later with Wolves, Arsenal and Tottenham in action as they all still chase European qualification, while Bournemouth could be on the brink of relegation if they, as expected, lose at Manchester City.
Wolves’ trip to Turf Moor is one of three 18:00 kick-offs and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who are sixth, can move just a point behind Leicester and Manchester United above them with a win.
However, it is unlikely to be straightforward for the visitors against the Clarets, who picked up an impressive point at champions Liverpool on Saturday and are unbeaten in the last five. Burnley still have a slim chance of finishing in the top seven – which could yet be enough for a Europa League spot – and usually make it difficult at home.
Wolves can edge (Wolves to win – 10/11*) it but expect a tight affair in Lancashire.
Spurs to see off Newcastle
Tottenham head to Newcastle in another of the 18:00 games fresh from their 2-1 North London derby success over Arsenal. Jose Mourinho’s side (20/29 – To win) can make it back-to-back victories against the Magpies, who are safe in 13th and appear to have switched off following two straight defeats.
Spurs are eighth but such is the congested nature of the table that they too can still make sixth place at least in what is a hectic run-in for all.
Gunners Host Champions
Arsenal are also in the mix and are currently five points behind sixth place as they welcome champions Liverpool to the Emirates in the 20:15 game. Mikel Arteta’s men have been inconsistent but will hope to take advantage of the Reds, who have taken their eye off the ball somewhat since securing the title.
Jurgen Klopp’s side need to win their final three games to beat Manchester City’s Premier League points record and are unbeaten against the Gunners in their last 10 meetings in all competitions. However, they’ve only ever won at the Emirates twice and a draw, which has been the outcome in three of the last four league games in London between these two, looks tempting at 29/10.
Cherries on the Brink
Bournemouth’s chances of staying up this season still look remote despite their unexpected 4-1 home win over Leicester last time out. They couldn’t have asked for a tougher test on Wednesday at 18:00 when they go to City, who have won their last four games at the Etihad with a combined score of 17-0.
If Eddie Howe’s side were to somehow pull off a win, it would probably be the shock of the season and another big victory for Pep Guardiola’s side surely looms with a three-goal winning margin (33/10) this time predicted.
