KevMac previews this weekend’s matches in the Premier League and Championship.
Norwich City v West Ham
WEST HAM can finally put Norwich out of their misery today and give their own survival prospects a massive boost.
Davie Moyes’ men blew a great chance to move further away from the drop zone on Wednesday night when they lost 1-0 at home to Burnley.
That came after they had taken four points from clashes with Chelsea and Newcastle to raise hopes of securing another season in the Premier League.
Two wins in their final four games should be enough to stay up and the Hammers will be confident of claiming one of them when they take on the doomed Canaries.
With Daniel Farke’s men 10 points away from safety, they will be relegated if they suffer a seventh successive league loss today.
West Ham are a best 21-20 with 888Sport to get the win that sends the Canaries down and that looks good value, despite their wobble in midweek.
Norwich have scored just once in their last six league games but have no option but to go for broke today.
So I fancy both teams to score at 7-10 with Sportingbet and if you double it with a Hammers win it pays 11-4 at Bet365.
Four of Norwich’s last five games have seen a one-goal winning margin and a repeat here is priced 11-8 by Betway.
Watford v Newcastle
Watford beat Norwich in midweek to boost their prospects of staying up and now have a winnable game at home to Newcastle today.
The Magpies looked jaded when they were thrashed 5-0 by Manchester City on Wednesday and have little to play for with safety already secured.
Creative sparks Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron sat out that game due to injuries and if they are missing again it’s hard to see Newcastle winning this one.
The Hornets are a best 5-6 with Betfair but you can boost those odds to 3-1 with bet365 by adding both teams to score. Watford haven’t kept a clean sheet since beating Liverpool 3-0 in February and even rock-bottom Norwich managed to breach their defence in midweek.
Danny Welbeck will be full of confidence after his stunning overhead kick against the Canaries and is 43-20 with 888Sport for anytime scorer today.
Brighton v Man City
Brighton still haven’t secured their place in the top flight for next term, although they will probably be safe unless those below them suddenly find a bit of form.
The Seagulls were outclassed by new champions Liverpool in midweek and it should be a similar story when Manchester City come calling today.
Pep Guardiola’s side were brilliant as they brushed Newcastle aside and will want to stay in form ahead of their push for FA Cup and Champions League glory this term.
City offer little value at 33-1o0 with Unibet so try them in the handicaps where they are 10-11 with Betfair to start a goal down.
The goals have been shared around by Guardiola’s side so there’s some value to be found in the anytime scorer market.
Ilkay Gundogan could start after being rested in midweek and is a tempting 21-4 to score at 888Sport, given he might be on
penalties with Sergio Aguero injured.
Liverpool v Burnley
Burnley’s fine run of form should end when they visit Anfield and I fancy Liverpool to win to nil at 3-4 with Genting, although Jurgen Klopp may rest a few big hitters.
Today’s other Premier League clash is an intriguing one as Chelsea take on a Sheffield United side who have returned to form.
Both teams to score has been a good option all season with the Blues and it’s priced at a decent 21/20 by Genting here.
English Championship
THE battle for play-off places is reaching fever pitch and it’s do or die for Derby today. After losing at West Brom in midweek the Rams need a win against third-placed Brentford to keep their promotion hopes alive.
They are as big as 17-5 with SportNation for a win but both teams to score may be safer and it’s 10-13 with the same firm.
Preston also face a must-win clash at home to fifth-placed Nottingham Forest as Alex Neil’s men bid to gatecrash the play-offs.
I can see this being a tense game so try under 2.5 goals at 19-20 with Unibet.
The scrap for survival is just as intense and I fancy Middlesbrough to beat a Bristol City side with nothing to play for.
Boro are a best 11-10 with Sky Bet while fellow strugglers Hull are 12-5 with the same firm to get a vital win over Millwall.
