Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse is the scene for an eight-race card on Wednesday afternoon.
Action at Ripon begins at midday and runs through until 15.40. There’s some ultra-tough handicaps on the card as our tipster looks to pick out some value selections.
Remember, you can watch every race from Ripon, as well as all UK and Irish racing, via live streaming when logged into MansionBet.
12.00 Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Fillies’ Novice Auction Stakes (6f)
The newcomer Gift List commands a precursory look in the betting but this should be a decent chance for BRAZEN BELLE to follow up a debut win at Beverley last month. David O’Meara’s daughter of Brazen Beau ultimately appeared to win with something up her sleeve there and she’s likely to improve for it.
12.35 Watch Sky Sports Racing In Hd Handicap (6f)
This is a daunting riddle for punters; Infinite Grace (second), My Kinda Day (fourth) and DANDIZETTE clashed at Redcar recently and though the first pair had a bit of daylight, the Dandy Man filly didn’t get the clearest run through.
She’s better off on these terms and is further boosted by Thore Hammer Hansen’s 5lb claim. She ran well at Ripon last year (second behind Infinite Grace) and makes appeal here as an each-way contender at what should be a decent price.
13.10 Sky Sports Racing Hd Virgin 535 Handicap (1m4f)
Justified was a good winner at Hamilton recently for Mark Johnston and can go well again under a penalty but LISMORE might be the answer. Sir Mark Prescott’s filly ran a nice race at Wolverhampton five days ago when finishing third behind two promising colts. She gets first-time cheekpieces back on the turf and has plenty potential for better.
13.40 Follow AtTheRaces On Twitter Handicap (1m4f)
Three of the four runners are going into a handicap for the first time so the market will reveal plenty and they’ve all got plenty scope for improvement. STOCKBRIDGE TAP is the only one without a win but he shaped nicely last time at Thirsk when coming clear with odds-on winner A Star Above. He gets plenty weight in this line-up and can progress.
14.10 Attheraces.com Handicap (1m2f)
Recent C&D winner BENADALID makes plenty appeal back around this track that he loves. He had a bit in hand on his rivals 18 days ago and a 4lb rise in the weights still leaves him with some wiggle room on his best form. The forecast ground is favourable and he may be able to defy Hamilton winner Dark Jedi.
14.40 Visit Attheraces.com Handicap (1m)
RIVER DAWN remains on the upgrade this season. He just missed out in a bunched finished at Pontefract on his return from a short break (form that has worked out very well and could be further boosted by Dark Jedi in the preceding race here). Since that, Paul Cole’s charge has scored decisively on the Polytrack at Kempton Park and he looks to hold strong claims back on turf under penalty.
15.10 Attheraces.com Maiden Stakes (1m)
She only had one start last season but DEEP SNOW created a good impression in finishing second at Newbury. The winner Boomer won a Group 3 on her next start and has proved a reliable conveyance since, now being rated 107. Saeed bin Suroor’s daughter of Bated Breath has standout claims here, ahead of the other possible improvers in Golden Hind and Tombolo.
15.40 Download The At The Races App Handicap (1m)
Handicap debutantes Oksana Astankova and Transcript are likely improvers and any strong market support would need noting but the vote goes to OUT OF BREATH for Grand Tuer and Ben Curtis. He’s proved himself a good frontrunner in the past and his most recent run at Redcar probably exposed him stamina-wise when attempting those tactics. Back over a bare mile, he might prove hard to catch.
