Plenty action to look forward to this Monday as the racing world begins to countdown towards the Derby at Epsom on Saturday. Five meetings across the UK and Ireland today and remember you can watch every race via live streaming when logged into MansionBet!
The best of the action comes from Windsor and our tipster has been through the eight-race card looking for winners.
1.50 attheraces.com Novice Stakes (6f)
William Jarvis may be able to land the opening event on the card with SHOOT THE MOON, the Lawman gelding having defied his place in the market on his seasonal return when finishing second to an unbeaten and useful-looking sort in It’s A Given at Kempton. A repeat of that showing may well be good enough now.
2.20 Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap (6f)
A former C&D winner PORTO FERRO is fancied to run well here despite racing from out of the handicap. She was 6lb wrong on her reappearance here earlier in the month, running a creditable fourth, and she went a place better seven days ago; with the winner Napping scoring again readily at Lingfield on Friday. This race lacks depth and the mare should be going close with those two recent runs in mind.
2.50 Download The At The Races App Handicap (6f)
Trainer Pat Phelan has a relatively small string but they are in form just now (2-6 lately) and EPSON FAITHFULL can outrun odds of 20/1
here. She won twice last season at Goodwood and Kempton over this trip and while she failed to fire on her seasonal return at Newbury, she looked sure to improve for the run and finds herself much better off at the weights now re-engaging the winner Broughtons Gold. Her chance shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand.
3.20 Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap (5f)
A three-time winner last summer over 5f/6f, BETTYS HOPE is now back on a workable handicap mark and improved last time out at Goodwood when dropped back to this minimum trip. She was fourth behind the re-opposing Electric Ladyland, doing her best work at the finish. Better off at the weights now, she also has Angus Villiers taking off 5lb in the saddle and should be in the mix.
3.50 Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Novice Median Auction Stakes (1m)
Plenty with chances here but CALATRAVA gets the call with race-fitness on her side after a pleasing second at Chelmsford on her comeback three weeks ago. She had no hope with the easy, unbeaten winner but was determined in taking the second prize. Ralph Beckett had an unusually low strike-rate at Windsor during 2019 and he might begin to put that right now.
4.20 Sky Sports Racing HD Virgin 535 Handicap (1m)
This is wide open fare and perhaps recent Lingfield winner OKSANA ASTANKOVA can take another step forward now she’s going into handicaps. That was just her second outing and her only previous experience on turf came on testing ground. The in-form James Doyle takes over here and he has a 40 per-cent strike-rate at Windsor over the preceding 12 months (6-15).
4.50 Visit attheraces.com Handicap (1m2f)
Sir Michael Stoute’s CHICHESTER did plenty wrong on reappearance at Lingfield this month, giving away ground and racing quite greenly, but he still managed to finish a closing second at the line and should be wiser now. He goes into handicaps after just two runs and should be winning soon.
5.20 attheraces.com Handicap (1m4f)
The early morning withdrawals of Frankuus and Country have given the finale a completely different look. BELLA VITA has faced some arduous tasks since recording a four-timer last summer over 1m2f/1m4f, with her last three runs in Listed/Group 3 company. With this having cut up plenty, Eve Johnson Houghton’s runner might be able to make an impact back in a handicap.
