HIBS would have been one of my bets of the week if Hearts hadn’t shocked Rangers on Saturday night.
I still fancy a home win at 6-5 with McBookie in tonight’s capital showdown but surely the Jambos will be lifted by a second defeat of the Ibrox men this season.
Daniel Stendel’s only victories against a Premiership side have been two against Rangers and they still sit bottom – 18 points behind Hibs.
It’s a big gap and the likes of Christian Doidge, Marc McNulty, Martin Boyle and Scott Allan could give a Jambos defence that’s lost centre-half John Souttar a tough time.
Hibs will have to buck a trend of no homes in this fixture in six since May 2018 but I’m backing with Doidge scoring first at 3-1 with McBookie.
Eight of the last 11 meetings have gone under 2.5 goals with three 0-0s but again this could go the other way.
Five of Hibs’ last six have gone over as have four for Hearts – over 2.5 goals pays 17-20 at McBookie. If you fancy Hibs and overs that’s 12-5 with the Scots firm.
Bad weather could affect the quality and lead to indiscipline and I fancy a red at 4-1 with Unibet.
There are four games scheduled in the Championship and best bets could be revitalised Morton not to lose at Inverness at 6-5 with bet365.
Morton hammered QoS 4-0 in Dunfries at the weekend on the back of four score draws and are eyeing a play-off place.
Genuine six-pointer
After losing to Dunfermline at the weekend it’s one win in seven for leaders Dundee United and it’s just as well they have a healthy lead at the top. Robbie Neilson’s men have been the bookies’ best pals recently and head to third-placed Ayr and I’m looking at a draw.
It’s also one win in seven for Dundee so it’s dangerous backing them at 1-2 at home to Alloa while there’s a huge game at the foot, a genuine ssix-pointer, with basement boys Partick Thistle entertaining second-bottom Queen of the South.
I keep waiting on the Jags to improve after Ian McCall strengthened his squad. For sure he can’t afford to lose this one but Queens are in even worse form with three defeats in a row to nil and no victories this year.
Heaviest home defeat
Saturday’s 4-0 defeat by Morton was the heaviest home defeat in the Championship this season and the Jags have a chance at 21-20 with McBookie on what will be an extremely heavy pitch.
In League One the top three lost at the weekend and knowing the pitches are levellers I didn’t back any of them.
Top-of-the-table clash
Had to feel sorry for the Raith fan though who suffered through a freezing 90 minutes at Dumbarton after being shocked by his missus who dressed as the elephant mascot and proposed to him on the pitch. Would have been cheaper if she’d made a trunk call!
Leaders Raith are in action against second-placed Falkirk, who lost at Clyde, and a point will suit them with third-place Airdrie having played a game more and sitting this one out.
Dumbarton are 6-5 at William Hill to beat Forfar at home but after gallons of rain and elephants trampling the surface it will be in a right mess.
