The first two games both kicked off at 7:00pm and were both from the Dutch Eerste Divisie league. After leading the game 4-0, Ajax Reserves took their foot off the gas which gave visitors Go Ahead Eagles a chance to find the net. We had to wait 81 minutes for the goal but the first leg landed with time to spare to move us over to the 2nd leg.
FC Utrecht Reserves played host to 19th place Dordrecht in the 2nd leg. Despite scoring just 14 goals in 24 games, we backed the visitors to grab at least one after Utrecht disappointing defensive performances. The hosts grabbed the early goal in the 12th minute which gave us hope for the rest of the night. The visitors didn’t have many chances but an incredible 93rd-minute equaliser kept the accumulator alive with the remaining legs all well underway.
We head to Germany for the 3rd leg which saw Bochum welcome Hamburg on the night. After a goalless first half, we were on the edge of our seats hoping for some second-half chances. Bochum, the underdogs, took the lead in the 65th minute courtesy of Simon Zoller. Just 3 minutes later, the 3rd leg was settled after a Hamburg equaliser from a corner. The visitors went all out to grab a 3-1 win after 90 minutes.
The penultimate leg came in the Serie A clash between Sampdoria and Napoli. This turned out to be the fastest settled leg of the accumulator with Napoli and Sampdoria both scoring within the first 26 minutes. It turned out to be a goal-fest with Napoli coming out as 4-2 winners courtesy of a 98th-minute goal from Dries Mertens.
Staying in Italy for the final leg, the Serie B clash between Pescara and Cosenza turned out to be the crucial leg. Another goalless first half had us on edge but Cosenza managed to grab a 53rd-minute goal after the hosts were reduced to 10 men. Just 4 minutes later, the visitors also had a man sent off giving us a chance heading into the final stages. Pescara managed to bag a 69th-minute goal to give us yet another winning accumulator.
