RANGERS were in the wrong place at the wrong time last week as Hearts suddenly sparked to life.
Steven Gerrard said he didn’t recognise his players and he’ll be happy to have bounced back with a midweek win against Ross County.
Alfredo Morelos was available after being banned for three but Steven Gerrard refused to gamble with his star man’s fitness but he’ll replace the crocked Jermain Defoe against Aberdeen today.
The Dons are on a poor run and some fans called for the head of Derek McInnes after a grim 0-0 draw at St Mirren on Sunday but they are capable of raising their game against Rangers.
Gerrard will have his players warned against complacency though and I reckon this will be another home win with most bookies going 1-4.
Morelos has had problems against the Dons but I’m backing him to grab the opener at 3-1 with bet365 while the Colombian is 8-11 to net at any time.
Dons have netted just two goals in four outings and I’m expecting a big game from Gerrard’s men and can see them covering the -1 handicap at 3-4 with Coral. It was 5-0 at Ibrox last September.
Celtic are in action tomorrow at Hamilton and this should be an easy win against a side missing players at the back.
Boss Brian Rice, starting a five-game dugout ban for betting. admitted he had to throw his defence together last week and it showed as they crashed 4-2 at home to Livingston.
On Accies’ plastic the Hoops have a good record with five wins in a row at Accies and in midweek they blew away St Johnstone with a fast start. They should cover the -2 handicap at 13-10 with Paddy Power.
Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard are teaming up well together in a two-pronged attack and I can see both hitting the target. Griff is 10-11 at Ladbrokes to score with Edouard shorter at 8-11.
Hearts hogged the headlines last weekend and it will be interesting to see how they follow up their best result of the season as they head to St Johnstone.
Tynecastle was crackling and new boy Liam Boyce helped them over the line with a deflected winner – it will be more sedate in Perth but if the Irishman and Steven Naismith can perform at their best they can win again and start heading to safety.
Hearts are a best 6-4 with betfair and that price you can look at the Jambos draw no bet at 4-5 with Marathonbet. Boyce and Naismith are both 21-10 with betfair to net.
Hibs blew away Dundee United in their cup replay and with Christian Doidge and Martin Boyle in good form I fancy them to edge out a St Mirren side struggling for goals. A home win pays 4-5 at Ladbrokes.
Two form sides meet at Livingston who welcome a third-placed Motherwell boosted by the return of hitman Chris Long. Best bet here could be both to score at 5-6 with Marathonbet.
In the Championship best bets could be Morton at 21-10 with William Hill at home to Dundee. The Greenock men held Dundee United at Tannadice last week and face a side that’s lost three in a row without scoring.
Dundee United will tempt all acca backers at 4-9 with bet365 at home to Arbroath. The Championship leaders let plenty down by drawing with Morton last week but with the Lawrence Shankland saga over they can get on with clinching the title ASAP.
Shankand can celebrate staying until the end of the season at least by scoring first at 7-4 with bet365.
Falkirk, who have won five in a row, will also be high on the list of accas as they head to League One basement boys Stranraer. They are 2-5 but over 2.5 match goals pays better at 4-6 with bet365.
League Two leaders Cove are even shorter at 1-3 so again go for goals and back over 2.5 – it was 4-4 when the sides met at Cliftonhill earlier in the season.
Recommended Bets
- Morelos to score first (3-1, bet365)
- Celtic -2 (13-10, Paddy Power)
- Griffiths to score (10-11, Ladbrokes)
- Hearts (6-4, betfair)
- Morton (21-10, William Hill)
- Shankland to score first (7-4, bet365)
