CLOSE but no cigar last night in Orura but I’m keeping the faith in Bolivia and paying a visit to Cochabamba as old favourites Wilstermann head into the first home match of their Apertura campaign…
JORGE WILSTERMANN VS. GUABIRÁ (9.15pm)
Jorge hardly got off to a flyer as they went down 1-0 against a Nacional outfit who will most likely cause a few problems for sides at home this season – so, no shame but not the start they would have wanted!
A shot at early redemption comes in the form of a visit from Guabira, a side not possessed with the most glowing away form over the years – but, well worth noting, the end of the Clausara saw a marked increase in the quality of performance both home and away.
Ironically, Guabira actually got off to the better start with an impressive 2-1 victory against Always Ready who were clearly (ahem) Not Ready!
H2H-wise, Wilstermann certainly have the edge but, given how powerful they became over the last 2-3 years, they have rarely hit Guabira as you might expect; in fact, the away side have scored in 5 of the last 6 meetings – that’s a pretty decent record and I suspect Wilstermann may find it difficult to keep their sheets clean.
There are three bets that I fancy and value-wise, I think the bookies are placing too much faith in a Wilstermann side who rarely show their true colours until a few weeks in.
