HOME or away? Wins on the road are the preference for Championship sides.
Eight out of nine matches over the past two Saturdays have been claimed by the visitors with the last home win coming on December 21.
It’s some trend and there’s every possibility it can continue today with three of the top five travelling – leaders Dundee United, Ayr and Dunfermline.
Five away wins would be remarkable but not impossible and that pays 156-1 at McBookie.
Dundee United should certainly oblige at a best 23-20 with McBookie as they head to Partick Thistle.
The Jags have improved under Ian McCall but not enough to lift them out of trouble although just three points separates fifth from ninth.
Champions-elect passed a test at Queen of the South last weekend and should beat a side with the worst home record in the division – just seven points from 27.
Lawrence Shankland has been pretty quiet in the past two weeks with the focus on a possible January move. I’m backing him to return to form with the first goal at 16-5 with Paddy Power.
Dundee are now 20 points behind their neighbours and clinging on to fourth place ahead of Ayr. Considering the way results have been going Ayr look big at 12-5 with McBookie or consider them draw no bet at 6-4 with Betfred.
Dunfermline could win at second-bottom Morton but 6-5 at Unibet is short for a side that’s lost a couple of loan players including Greg Kiltie who has been recalled by Killie.
Alloa v Arbroath could go either way and Inverness are the shortest-priced home team at 17-20 with Unibet and should edge out QoS.
A third 2-0 Inverness win this season pays 17-2 at BetVictor.
In League One, Jamie Gullan will play his last game for leaders Raith (again!) after being recalled by Hibs and is 5-1 at McBookie to go out with a bang by scoring first at Forfar.
This should be an away win at 20-23 with betfair and if you believe in stats both will score – it’s happened in the last seven meetings at Station Park.
Falkirk are 5-6 with bet365 to win at Peterhead where they drew 0-0 earlier in the season and another draw is a possibility.
If there’s a shock it could come at Stranraer where Montrose are the visitors. The Blues, warming up for next week’s Scottish Cup tie at Rangers, are bottom but draws at Dumbarton and Clyde in the past two weeks shows signs of promise.
They are big at 11-4 with bet365 against a side they drew 2-2 with at Stair Park earlier in the season. Stranraer draw no bet is less risky at 15-8 with Unibet.
In League Two Cove and Edinburgh City continue to pull away from the rest and both should win today although the odds are skinny.
City are a best 8-15 at home to Queen’s Park who won their first game under new boss Ray McKinnon last week but have lost all three league meetings away.
Cove are just 1-2 to beat Stirling for the third time this season. They won 2-1 at Forthbank back in August and having kept one clean sheet in six the way to go is Cove and both to score at 15-8 with Betfred.
Third-placed Cowdenbeath are 21-20 at bet365 to beat an Albion Rovers crashing down the table.
And back Annan at 7-5 to defeat Elgin at home. Annan are unbeaten in nine against the Highlanders at Galabank – six wins and three draws. They are 7-5 at bet365.
