THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie’s Damian Walker is back with his first-scorer tips and he’s also challenging punters to pick their own.
Every week one person with a correct prediction will be chosen at random to win a £10 bet – and if you backed your tip with McBookie with at least a fiver they’ll double the prize to £20.
You can comment with your pick here and give any reasoning but to enter the contest you have to email mrfixit@dailyrecord.co.uk.
Quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish games only – for a chance to win. Last week’s winner was Austin Hay who tipped Stephen Dobbie at 11-2 – and he wasn’t the only one.
Here is Damian with this weekend’s selections. He says: “I had an 11-2 winner in Stephen Dobbie last weekend as my 4-1 tips Queen of the South thrashed title favourites Dundee United 4-0. My 14-1 selection Graham Webster also scored but sadly not first.
“Probably for the first time this season Dundee United will be under pressure as they entertain Dunfermline on Saturday in the Championship.
“I flagged up last weekend how the recent form of the Arabs had looked distinctly patchy after some poor performances in recent weeks and that emphatic defeat to the Doonhamers backed it up.
“Luckily for Robbie Neilson their closest pursuers – Ayr United and Inverness Caley Thistle – both had indifferent results themselves.
“Now only a win over Dunfermline will make up for last weekend’s huge defeat and I am not so sure it is coming and don’t like the odds about it happening either.
“Bookies have Dundee United at 8-11 on the back of back-to-back defeats to Alloa and Queen of the South. Dunfermline, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their last four games and last weekend beat second-placed Ayr United 3-2.
“So I am not quite so sure how they can be as big as 15-4 to win at Tannadice. The Pars have Greg Kiltie on loan from Kilmarnock and he scored the opener in their win over the Honest Men last weekend.
“Last season Kiltie scored a goal every two games when on loan at Morton and although he hasn’t hit those heights yet with Dunfermline he is just starting to find his feet with two first goals from his last five games. McBookie make Kiltie 12-1 to score the first goal of the game against Dundee United.
“In League One I have been thinking for a while that last season’s League Two champions Peterhead could be heading straight back there at the end of this campaign.
“The Blue Toon have now lost four of their last five matches and drawn the other, plus ace striker Rory McAllister can’t buy a goal and last scored back on July 13.
“Injuries, suspensions and not finding himself in the starting line-up obviously haven’t helped but a return of one goal in 11 appearances is poor.
“Peterhead have been at their worse on the road in League One where they have conceded 14 goals from five games – almost three per match.
“On Saturday they travel to face fourth-placed Dumbarton who are no great shakes themselvesbut look fairly priced at 20-21 for the visit of an out-of-form Peterhead side.
“Sons’ striker Issac Layne has six goals from his last eight games despite drawing a blank from his last three games. He should get plenty of chances on Saturday against the leaky Peterhead back line and is 5-1 with McBookie to grab the opening goal.
“Finally, in the Premiership Motherwell let this column down for the first time this season when losing at home to Aberdeen last weekend but are surely too big at 10-1 for their visit to Ibrox.
“This is a great time for them to be facing Rangers with the home side having had an away trip to Portugal on Thursday night. And I am going to stick with a Sherwin Seedorf first goal at 20-1 with McBookie.”
