IT’S a much quieter card tonight with just 7 Championship matches and 6 games from Norwegian 1st Division – I quite like the smaller cards midweek, less to look at and you can spend a bit extra time looking into the games.
The big guns are out in force in the Championship as Leeds, WBA and Swansea will all be looking to knock early pacesetters Sheffield Wednesday off top spot.
Interestingly, 5 of the top 6 teams are playing teams who occupy the bottom 6 – add reading Stoke and Cardiff into the mix, we have the basis of 7 really good games.
English Championship Totals goals:
Seven matches to concentrate on tonight and unlike last night’s disappointing goal haul of 9 we should expect to see goals from these matches given the sides involved.
Cardiff, Fulham, Leeds and WBA are all at home against opposition you would expect them to beat and with early-season surprise package Charlton at home to Forest, it’s really difficult to make a case against goals in these games.
Leeds v Brentford is an interesting one, Leeds rarely fire a blank at home but have conceded in 8 of their last 11 games at home in the league. Brentford are more than capable of contributing and like I always say when you have a large number of games we should expect 2 or 3 of these see 4+ goals.
Really think we should take advantage of so many attacking teams playing against sides who haven’t started the season that well. Eleven of the 14 sides involved tonight are averaging over 2.5 match goals per game and it’s worth taking on the total goal line again. Would be surprised if this doesn’t go close.
