For the second week in a row Celtic have laid down a marker to city rivals Rangers with another sensational performance, this time hammering Motherwell 5-2 at Fir Park.
Pressure is on Steven Gerrard’s side again to keep pace with them but they will be fill of confidence after Thursday 4-2 win away in Denmark and they should take their good early season form into todays home tie against Hibs.
I’ve been impressed with Rangers so far this season and in front of 50,000 fans at Ibrox, it will be a formidable place to visit for opposition teams. Fully expect Rangers to win this and score a couple of goals.
Rangers vs Hibernian (KO 3pm)
One thing we should expect to see this season is Rangers turning over teams at Ibrox and making it a real fortress. Last season far too many team left there with points but it looks like Rangers are starting to find that winning mentality.
They’ve had no trouble scoring goals either, especially in Europe where they scored another 4 goals against a very good Midtjylland side and one thing that does stand out is their defensive record at Ibrox.
They have conceded just one goal in their last 8 home matches in the Premiership and today they welcome a Hibs side who have been less than convincing this season, especially against lower league opposition in the Betfred cup and it took a 90th minute winner last week for them to beat a St Mirren side who are in disarray at the moment
They do have plenty of attacking threat in Mallan, Kamber, Doidge and Horgan but Rangers have been fairly solid at at the back and will have to much quality.
There’s a couple of Hibs players who have a high chance of making their way into the referee’s book:
Step Forward:
- Stevie Mallan
- Scott Allen
- Josh Vela
Recommended Bet:
- Rangers and Over 1.5 match goals
- 4/5 (Betway) (NAP)
