WE came close last week with our first baseball tip, losing our bet by only 2 runs and then I hit my first winner on the site with the UFC at the weekend, but tonight we focus our attention back to the baseball with a small single and double play.
San Diego Padres vs Seattle Mariners (8.45pm)
We head to Washington firstly and my money is on the Mariners to cash in a win against the Padres.
Simply put, the Padres should not be this big of a favourite on the road. They are a very mediocre team and have only won 4 of their last 11, so it’s not like they are playing that good at the moment.
Mariners have lost five straight, but keep in mind that three of those defeats came at Houston and they had won six straight before that turn.
San Diego starter Joey Lucchesi is 1-4 when starting with a 6.47 ERA, meaning he gives away an average of just under 7 runs a game.
Seattle will turn to lefty pitcher Kikuchi and that’s worth noting, as the Padres are a horrible 5-23 in their last 28 interleague (National League team vs American League team) away games vs a left-handed starter.
Washington Nationals vs San Francisco Giants (11.40pm)
We finish up in San Fran and I fancy Washington as a small favourite against the Giants.
San Francisco made quite the run to get back in the play-off race, but they are reverting back to their early season ways of late.
Giants have lost three straight and five out of six, and the big thing that sticks out to me is the inability of the their offense to score runs. They have a mere five runs over their last three games combined.
Nationals will send out Joe Ross, who has impressed in his first two starts, allowing just three runs in 10 innings. Washington has scored four runs or more in four straight and should stay hot here against the Giants.
